CHAP 48: Being hired

When i woke up, i saw Mashiro on top of me, looking at my face fixedly.

"Good morning, my light."

"Good morning...?"

"Was the date you had with that bitch yesterday fun?"

"You didn't hurt Olivia, did you?"

"I don't know, did i?"

I took her by the neck and held her up against the wall.

"Did you?"

"No, my light, i did not."

I put her back to the ground, and caressed her neck.

"That's good then. And Cutthroat?"

"She wanted to, but i didn't let her."

"Very good. If you are wondering, i would do the same for you."

"Would you? Oh, that's why you're my light."

She went from being angry at me, to hugging my lower arm and rubbing her head on my upper arm. Crazy women are scary. I exited my room, carrying the encrypted laptop beneath the arm not occupied by Mashiro. But when i trespassed the door, i found myself having an knife held to my neck by Cutthroat.

"Good morning, Tsuchiya."

I said her name and she immediately let the knife fall.

"My angel said my name."

She muttered beneath her breath. The thing about crazy women is that if you are competent, they are all bark and no bite. Pacifying them is all about knowing what to say, and when to say it. If you died by the hands of an woman who crazily loves you, who's obsessed about you, it is most probably because you fucked up. The smell is good, wonder who's cooking?

I was surprised to see it was Samantha, she didn't seem to be someone who knows how to cook well, not that i am one to talk. My cooking skills are enough for me to survive, and nothing beyond that. I sat down on the table, with Mashiro sitting on my side, and Makina on the other. Everybody was there, minus Olivia and Tsuchiya.

"Where's Olivia?"

"She didn't leave our room, said something about being tired."

Mashiro was the one to answer me. So that's why she was angry, she thinks i and Olivia did the deed.

"I see."

Tsuchiya came in, she was sad there was no place beside me, so she sat on the opposite. The fact is, this apartment barely fits all of us, if i end up having other women (which i believe will end up happening), i'll have to buy another house, maybe i can take Souichiro's mansion? I think it would fit us all. Who knows, maybe i'll take the house of the Yakuza leader? With the apocalypse so close, the possibilities are endless. Maybe i'll rob the Kujira, that would hurt Arasaka's pride. But let's leave the future to the future.

I ate the lunch Samantha had cooked for us, and i have to say, it was delicious. I'm surprised on why she didn't have any cooking skills on her status, it only proves that skills aren't everything. I got up, walked up to her, took her hand and kissed it.

"My appreciations for the chef. It was delicious, thanks, Samantha."

"It was nothing, really. I'm happy you liked it."

Once again, the woman was slightly blushing. For an bonafide psycho, i'm surprised she is even capable of doing that. The megalomaniac woman i saw on the anime is nowhere to be seen. I checked the hours.

"I'll be going now. Wouldn't want to be late. Goodbye, my dears."

I had about an hour before the meeting, so i really had to be going. I changed clothes, and went to the metro. When i arrived there, i passed by one of those bookstores and bought an book, i was reading it while going to the school. My pace was slow, but i would still arrive behind schedule. When i arrived at the school, they let me in, since they already knew my face.

"Mr Greyston, the meeting will happen at the director's office. Do you need me to lead you?"

"I already know my way, thanks."

While i walked to the principal's office, i mapped out the school. In my experience of being an teacher, i never saw an school this big. When i arrived at the waiting room, i saw the secretary warning Mr. Akihiko i had arrived, and then he opened the door and signaled me in. He was speaking to someone with his interface, apparently an parent of some student, complaining about the school lacking an philosophy teacher. Ironic. Akihiko said the problem had been dealt with, that they had found an fitting teacher, and the parent said something about not wanting an repeat of the incident with the last one.

"I'm sorry for that, Mr. Greyston."

"No problem, i did arrive early. And you can call me Jacob."

He pulled out the contract.

"Well then, Jacob. You can analyze the contract, if you want, but it's all standard, the starting salary will be the same as agreed on the interview."

I read through the whole thing rapidly. There was no "selling my soul to the devil" anywhere, for an school made for the sons of the rich, the terms were agreeable.

"All seems good for me."

I gave the contract back to him, and he signed it. I did the same, and he offered me an handshake. I shook his hand.

"Well then, i welcome you to our little family here at the school. I think you will like the students here, even if some of them are quite the personalities."

"I think i'll have no problem with them."

"On another note, i really hope you do not end up like our last Philosophy teacher."

Is he threatening me?

"Don't worry, Mr Akihiko, you won't have problems with me."

"I really do hope so, Jacob. Our school works with the sons and daughters of highly esteemed individual, so i hope you act accordingly."

From my research, the last Philosophy teacher made some "baseless accusations" against the students parents during the lessons, and ended up arrested for it. He also "mysteriously disappeared" in the prison, so those accusations mustn't have been so baseless.

"Don't worry, my personal feelings won't influence my work."

"That's good, that's good. You'll start working next week, i'll send you the schedules of your lessons. Now, come with me, let me give you an little tour the facility."

He had gotten up, and was waiting on the door. I got up and he opened the door for me.

"Don't you have work to do, Mr Akihiko."

"Call me Hidetaka. And no, i opened up an hour on my schedule for introducing you to the school. The students are in their classes at the moment, so there'll be no interruptions.

I nodded.

"As you may already know, we are an full secondary school, you'll be giving lessons to all the six grades we have, which are each divided in three classes of 20. We are now in the upper secondary wing, and the other wing is the lower secondary one. The wings work individually, you'll be assigned as an homeroom teacher to the upper secondary wing, considering your qualifications. The teachers room is localized in the first floor, just below my office, we offer coffee and lunch to our teachers there."

"You are expected to be here at 8:30 AM, and classes start 8:40. Each lesson lasts 50 minutes. You're free to organize your own lessons, of course, but we have an curriculum of things we need to cover. It's still the start of the year, so you can easily replace the lessons you have lost, you just say when you're free, and we'll arrange it."

"Hm, understood. Which class will be my homeroom?"

"I believe it is 2-A. You're the only one of our teachers who gives lessons on both wings, considering the lack of people taking your graduation at the current age, so you will have to double as an counselor for the 3-A class of the this wing as well. If you have to do overtime because of that, they will be fully payed, of course."

More work for me, i guess. Atleast it gives me an excuse for speaking with more students, and considering i am psychologist, maybe even more students will end up taking advice with me. The overtime will be payed, and i think my current body doesn't really tire, that feeling of tiredness is probably something psychological, an addiction of sorts. I already have some targets, but i'll wait until i give my first lesson before i decide that.
