Chapter Six: Such Would Be My Justice (Part 5)

Realizing what kind of a situation I was in, what happened after that, I could assure you that that was in no way pleasing to the mind.

'WHAT THE F--'

I frantically tried to reach the other parts of my body, but of course, they weren't there either. I couldn't even feel my own breath, I thought I was going crazy for real, as my existence seemed to have dissolved into void.

Until that moment light started to form in front of me, signaling the beginning of the vision.

'Why must you inflict this upon me, dear Holy Maiden?'

That voice, it came out of nowhere, and it was a deep and brittle voice of a man I had never heard before, it was so brittle that I could picture someone shedding tears as he was saying that, such an imagination immediately triggered my empathetic sense, shaking my own heart. Then, after the voice came the sky full of stars, and that dark world suddenly got replaced with the vision itself.

'My dear... For you to have turned against me... For you to betray me...' cried the man whose appearance finally took shape, although his face got crossed out, the rest of his body was as vivid as day, such a tall and husky figure hovered over the night sky, behind him was one pair of wings which looked just like that of a black dragon. His overall apparel was a white uniform that gives off this commander's clothing vibe, however, the details on the clothes had more of a demonic origin to them.

Such an appearance had my mind scream the word 'Demon' so loud, as he couldn't possibly be a human nor an angel possessing that kind of wings. Yet, it was a mystery how his choice of color was white rather than something darker.

And what did he mean by 'Betray'? Who was he talking to?

No longer than 5 seconds after I had had that question...

'Shut up.'

I heard my own voice answering back to him, causing me to turn my head toward where the voice was coming from, and my eyes widened in an instant, of course, in disbelief.

'You do not want this. He chose it for you, but you must fight him...'

'I don't know what you're talking about.' uttered the me who didn't even look like myself, even though that face looked exactly the same as mine, but that strange me wore an intricate white dress with multiple layers of decorations, not even my usual office clothing that only consisted of a white shirt and plain black pants. On 'my' face, there was also that cold expression, which was so 'not me'. Not even mentioned that there were 3 pairs of translucent angelic wings flapping behind my back.

Such a sight caused all my hair to stand on end. What could be the meaning of this - this future? Could it mean that I am going to be possessed? Or 'I', myself, would change into someone so different?

God, I hated both ideas, equally and absolutely.

Anyway, aside from 'my' appearance, I also saw that my hand was holding something - gripping it with all my might.

It was a black ancient scale with little to no decorative pattern, and instead, it was illuminated by some form of bright light surrounding its core, giving it a sense of divinity, judging from the situation, pretty sure that would be my divine weapon.

But... a scale?

How the frick was I going to fight using a scale?

Not long after that, I did get my answer... That 'me' decided to launch myself forward, charging that scale with immense divine power that its light became iridescent, and swinging it at that Hellspawn demon's face as if it were a sword or something.

Holy cow, here I thought it might be used like an item for channeling magic or something--

'My dear...'

And the moment that unknown demon uttered his words with a voice as soft as a whisper, as he was staying still, watching my weapon going for his head...

"Your Highness, come back here."

"...?!"

Suddenly, I felt like my body just got pulled backward, and my consciousness immediately drifted away, out of the world of vision, back to reality.

*****

When I had opened my eyes and found myself back in the present world, I literally gasped and my body staggered, causing Nagisa to rush in and hold one arm out in front of me, pretty sure she was trying to catch me in case I did fall.

"Oh God, that was... Ugh... What a ride--!" For a split second, I just couldn't control my own mouth, and I did vocalize my real negative feelings out loud, to my own regret.

"Hey, hey, aren't you too rough on him, Orobas?" as I heard Sister Chamiria's words, I felt like I was gonna puke, the world in front of my very eyes looked just like it was put in motion blur, but good God, I decided to close my eyes first, and took in a very deep deep breath. After about 10 seconds or so, my vision and everything gradually returned to normal.

Ah... There I knew why one shouldn't long to see their own future...

"Nah, Chamiria, it came out even better than I thought~ Our Angel is indeed super strong, a normal human would lose everything in their stomach the very first second they came back~"

Hearing Pastor Orobas saying that, I couldn't even tell if I should be happy about such a statement or not, but one thing I was quite sure of was that I would never do THAT again. Not in any circumstances.

And I had already seen my own weapon, so it was time to finish this and go home!

"Ahem... Nagisa, my weapon is a scale, by the way."

"Yes, Mr. Ozwald?"

So I decided to get to the point and inform the law enforcer about what I had seen without delay, although as I was doing that, I also recalled the situation in which the vision took place.

Should I tell her about that too?

"..."

Did I need to? Would it be necessary?

Was I allowed to interfere with the future?

I found myself contemplating all of that, somehow I was that type of person who strongly believed that by trying to change or prevent something from happening in the future, we would also f*ck other things up in the process.

Thus, I decided to keep it all to myself.

"Mr. Ozwald?"

"Yes, Nagisa?"

"You said that it was a scale?"

"Ah-- Yes. A scale. Is there any issue?"

"Yes... As we don't have scales in our arsenal. If that's the case, then we might have to contact other sectors, and your plan for going home will be greatly delayed. We CANNOT let you go home without your weapon, not under any circumstances."

"It's not in the arsenal... I see." As I was mumbling and repeating Nagisa's words, for some reason, my eyes slowly moved toward the wall on the far end of the room - to the altar, behind the altar there was a space where there should be a cross...

But instead of a cross, it appeared that there was something else stuck onto the wall.

"Guess someone decided to do something different..."

The next thing I knew, I had invited myself into the chancel, and walked straight toward that 'something', following my instinct and also my own keenest of observation as an introvert.

It was really there.

"Someone gotta explain why they put my weapon here, instead of a cross, I think..." I didn't even know if I should chuckle at my own speech or not, as I was yanking my own weapon out of the church wall in front of those two clergies.

The moment that I got to take a good look at this scale and hold it with my very own hand, I must say that I was in awe. Its pure black surface felt exceptionally smooth and cool to the touch, as it was made of some kind of metal, but I couldn't even tell if it was Earthly metal or Heaven's metal since its ability to reflect light was superb and I could even see a glimpse of iridescence when it was exposed to candlelight. Its two dishes when they touched each other, they let out a tinkling sound like two glasses knocking on each other, it felt so soothing to the mind. Last but not least, every seam on the scale was perfectly welded together to the point that the whole scale looked as if it was a single piece of metal coming out of a mold.

Instead of calling it a weapon, I would rather say that this was a piece of art. How come the me in my vision chose to swing it like a club or something, one could never imagine.

"Well, well, who put your weapon there, it would be a lie if I say that I don't know a thing..."

Anyhow, as I was paying all my attention to the weapon, suddenly Sister Chamiria's voice just rang up beside me out of the blue, making me jump, and almost dropped this divine item onto the floor!

"Zora might have been fooling around, but she knew this thing was special, after all."

"Z-Zora?" I stuttered as I repeated that name, and when I looked down, I found my hands already gripping the weapon's handle super hard, like it was worth millions of dollars or something.

"My late sister. She saw this thing when we were unboxing our packages of ornaments, and then she suggested the idea that we should put it on the wall, as we are not allowed to install a cross in here, as this room should be free for anyone to come praying, and not to be used as our church alone."

Oh... Your 'late' sister?

During the seconds while I was blinking rapidly, trying to follow, behind us Nagisa also seemed to have decided that she wants to join in our conversation, as she had already walked up to us, and come stared at the weapon in my hands.

"Zora Hope was a peculiar kid, indeed..."

"Right. But a good-natured one."

"Just like her biological sister."

"Yeah... Just like her rebellious sister."

Although, as I was listening to the two exchanging words, in my mind I did have my own important matter to tend to, such as...

How should I name this piece of art, anyway?

Justice? Would that sound too generic?

Is there any other word that reminds people of scales?

"Libra."

To avoid having it sound too normie, I had decided to call my precious weapon 'Libra'

"Huh? Have you named it, lobster boy?"

"Yes, Sister... It's Libra."

And Nagisa, when she heard the name, she then went on like "What a decent choice of name." My only reaction to that sentence was simply nodding.

"Sounds like your pet."

"That's right..." That's even better.

Before I realized it, I had cracked up a smile, looking at this Libra. Even though it was my first time holding such a weapon, that warm and familiar feeling somehow started to well up. To meet my Libra, it felt more like a reunion.

"Protect me. Protect your master, will you?"

As soon as I finished those words, Libra then transformed itself into a ball of light, and jumped into my body, causing me to choke on air.

"Libra?!"

However, when I called out its name out of pure shock, it then reappeared on my hand once again as if it was just trying to test my mentality.

There was no mistake that this thing had been destined to become my weapon, it seemed.

"Haha. Your Libra is a naughty boy. They said that one's weapon reflects one's personality. Aren't you naughty on the inside, Ozwald?"

"No, Sister?!" For real, getting teased by a nun might be one of the very few things one couldn't try to imagine happening in real life, but here in the Hunters' HQ, nothing felt real anymore.

In a matter of no longer than 24 hours, I had already become a Hunter, and I was going to take this divine weapon of mine home. How was I going to explain what had happened to my brother, I wouldn't even know. Tell me anything more surreal, and I would laugh at your face.
