It's a Wednesday morning and Sierra wakes up right on time. She puts in her uniform and brushes her long, dark brown hair then ties them into a ponytail. After getting ready, she goes on to wake Jenny up but she's not in her room, then she checks the living room and to her surprise Jenny is already sitting on the dining table, fully prepared for school and Jolene is sitting with her.
"Good morning honey, I made you guys a cheese omelette, come on, join in" Jolene says with a welcoming gesture
"Uh, no thanks. I can't eat in the morning otherwise I feel nauseous. Jenny are you finished eating?"
Sierra declines her offer. No matter what Jolene did, Sierra just couldn't help but feel hatred towards her. The desperate child in her stopped her from loving her mother, the child she killed years ago just so Jenny could live her childhood as long as she wanted to.
Jolene seemed to notice that aggressive tone, then said "a little bite won't harm, Sierra"
"No thanks, we are actually running a little late. Jenny, I am waiting for you by the door. Finish your breakfast, you have 5 minutes" then she left the room without saying goodbye.
Jenny stuffed the rest of her omelette into her mouth then hurriedly picked up her bag and kissed her mom goodbye.
When they both were waiting at the bus stop, Jenny said
"I think we are a little early"
"No, we are on time"
"Then why did you said that 'we are running late' to mom?"
Sierra looked at her with irritation and replied
"If we didn't sped up the routine, we would have been late"
Jenny went quite for a few minutes then again said
"I have seen you have the breakfast sometimes, why did you declined mom?"
"I can't have such heavy things stuffed into my throat right after I open my eyes or else I end up throwing up"
It was quite clear to Jenny that things were complicated between Sierra and her mother, but she never dared to ask this kind of question because she already knew she would get brushed off by those stupid excuses, just like how Sierra did right now.
After a little while, bus arrives and they both hop on it. Jenny and Sierra both head off to their own buildings.
As Sierra was walking through the hallway, she noticed a group of boys staring and smiling at her. They were Adrien's friends. But then she brushed them off thinking it might be in her head. She walks into her class and gets seated. After 5 minutes or so, Adrien approaches her with some sheets in his hand "ugh yes" she thinks to herself "those God damn extra credits, why do I keep forgetting about those?"
"These are the sheets mr Richard gave you" Adrien said while handing them out
"Thanks"
"And I solved two of them for you"
"Really, but you didn't have to" Sierra said to him with a thankful gesture
"Oh no, it's not a problem, I thought you would get tired after all the work you do. So I solved the two I thought were the hardest"
"Thank you so much Adrien, I owe you for that one"
"Alright then, remember your words" they both chuckle then he gets back to his seat.
Just like that, the school day is over and everyone heads back to their homes. Sierra gets back at hers and she sees Jolene once again making something "special" for them. But this time Sierra sat down and ate quietly without spitting a word and neither did Jolene tried to make a conversation. After the lunch, as Sierra stood up to clean after, Jolene told her "don't bother" then Sierra left it as it was and went into her room. There was nothing special today, even at the bar she wasn't given out any task so she danced on the stage then afterwards went on to sit on the counter table. It was now becoming her usual routine, having a little talk with Adrien before she left.
"Hey, got no guys today?" Adrien teases her
"No, I declined them today" she responded sarcastically
"Well, then I am willing to volunteer"
"Oh shutup" this comment seemed to turn off Sierra, she hated when guys slipped up those flirty remarks in a professional or a friendly conversation making things awkward.
After a minute or two, Adrien again initiated a conversation asking
"Did you solved the rest of the worksheets?"
"Only one is left"
"Let me know if you need any help"
"I appreciate it" Sierra said dryly, then left.
Adrien realized that she wasn't the type of girl who would be flattered by these little flirty conversations, she had a huge fence built around her which wouldn't be down soon. And he was even more curious as why was she so guarded about her life.
