Chapter 72

Ash's POV**************

The noise from the surrounding woke me up from my nightmare. The last thing I remembered was speaking to Keenan over the phone but I didn't know why I suddenly passed out.

"Doctor. She's awake", I heard Jennie's voice from my side making me turn to look at her.

"You got me worried Ash", she said hugging me tight.

"How is Ryan? Any news about him? Why am I even here?", I asked her so many questions which were not meant for her.

"He's still in the operating room and the doctors are trying their best", she tried to answer.

"How long have I been sleeping here? I need to check up on Ryan ", I said getting off the bed but she stopped me.

"Just stay here Ash, you are not a doctor and we can't afford it if anything happens to you so please listen to me", she pleaded.

"Is Keenan here?", I gave up and sat back on the bed. I knew he would be there since I told him we were at the hospital.

"He's outside with Ryder ", she answered. "I'd let him know you are awake because he's also worried", she added and left me alone in the room.

'I hope Mr and Mrs Hart do not hear about this', I thought to myself before the door flew open.

"Keenan", I didn't know why I mentioned his name but I felt calm after seeing him. He walked hesitantly towards me.

"Are you okay?", he asked after getting closer to my bed.

"Not until you give me a hug besides I just came back from the dead", I was still joking around in such a situation. I opened my arms so he could hug me but he refused making me hurt.

"I'm not supposed to be hugging someone who is not well, it's good to see you are awake. I'd just wait outside ", he said and turned to leave but I wasn't ready to let him go. I got up from the bed and ran to hug him from behind making him freeze. It really felt good even hugging him from behind.

"What are you doing Ash?", he asked trying to peel my arms off him but I was hugging him so tight.

"I'm getting my hug since you refuse to give it willingly", I said with a smile. I wanted to see the expression he had on so I walked to stand in front of him without letting go , not even for a second.

"You can't be doing this Ash, you are not strong enough", he tried to protest but I wasn't listening to him.

"Are you trying to avoid me?", the question suddenly escaped my mouth. I loosened my arm around him when I realized he was trying to avoid me. I felt so hurt to the core. I didn't know what that feeling was but it really hurt a lot. My heart was racing in pain and I couldn't stop it with the thought of Keenan avoiding me.

"I'm not avoiding you Aislin, I'm just concerned about your health. I'd be waiting outside ", he said and walked out of the room.

'Did he just call me by my name? What had gotten into him?', I couldn't hold the tears back. I sat on the floor with my eyes filled with tears. "Would you stop racing like a mad dog?", I asked hitting my chest

"What are you doing on the floor?", I heard Jennie's voice.

"He called me by my name. He just called me Aislin. …How could he mention my name like that?", I cried loudly hearing a sigh coming from Jennie.

"Isn't that your name? Ain't you called Aislin Hart? Why are you acting like it's a big deal to call you by your name?", she sounded annoyed but I didn't care. I continued crying till she decided to console me.

"Sorry about that Ash, I'd tell him not to call you by your name again. Wipe your face and stop behaving like a baby", she said and helped me up on my feet.

"It's getting late, how is Ryan?", I finally asked when I looked through the window and found out it was getting dark.

"I came to tell you they were done with the surgery and it was a success. The doctors are….", without waiting for her to complete her words, I sped out of the room to check up on him.

"Ash what are you doing here?", Ryder was first to ask when he saw me heading towards Ryan's room.

"I heard the surgery was a success, why don't you go in and check ?", I asked happily.

"He's still unconscious, the doctors are waiting for him to regain consciousness without side effect before it can be fully called a success ", Ryder explained in plain terms.

"But you didn't tell me about that ", I turned to Jennie throwing that at her.

"Did you hear me out before storming out of the room?", she questioned back.

"Whatever", I said and sat down on the chair at the waiting area.

"We just have to be grateful everything is getting better", Keenan finally spoke making turn my attention to him. When I thought of it, he was so annoying and I wasn't ready to quarrel with him.
