This woman! (Edited)

Jeff and his friends exchanged looks. "She really hung up," Oliver said softly as if not believing it.

"She even claimed to not know you," Ralph added.

"Don't forget that she refused to come to pick you up."

Jeff looked at his friends expressionlessly, the woman had left him speechless, her audacity, her carefree attitude, did she have any weakness? No, he couldn't believe a lady would be so heartless, there must be something, and he was going to find out that, oh yes, he was. Now he was damn angry.

"Let's go home, I am sure that she might be waiting for me."

He drove home with his friends and his mood turned sour when he realized that the woman wasn't even waiting for him. Mike the chatterbox turned to him. "Okay, where's your wife?"

Jeff sighed. "Let's go to see if she is in the house or not."

He led way to her room where her door was half closed. Amy lay on her back with her black pajamas with white skeleton heads, her body spread all over the bed, snoring as if she had no care in the world. Veins popped into Jeff's head, this woman was heavily sleeping not minding that he was drunk somewhere and couldn't even attempt to get him, wait, why was he even expecting her to care, but she was living in his house? If she had even a little bit of conscience she would have waited for him, wasn't she even worried about his life? Didn't she even consider the fact that he might have gotten drunk because of her?

Dismissing his friends, he walked dejectedly to his room and looked for sleep.

The next day morning, Amy walked out of her room and her eyes widened on seeing the three men at the dining table. Did they really have to ruin her day, first thing in the morning? She folded her hands on her chest and stood one stair away from the ground.

"I don't intend to be rude but don't think you should stop sleeping in this house? This is someone's marital home and thou we might not have any relation I expect your IQ to be high enough to tell you that you're intruding." The men watched her in silence as Jeff who had been walking down paused on the stairs to watch the drama unfolding. But Amy wasn't done speaking. "Some of you should have already built themselves a home and thou I am not advising you to force ladies to marry you like I was, you should be thinking of getting married, you aren't getting any younger."

That being said, she reached the table and grabbed a mug of coffee and sausages, and was about to walk out. "Stop Amy." Oh, their leader now? She stopped in her tracks and waited for the nonsense he was about to spew. "You don't have any classes today?" and since when did her programs involve him?

"No." she watched as he scratched his neck.

"I heard what you said to my friends and, I think you're right, they need to leave." Her eyes narrowed suspiciously, why was he all of a sudden agreeing with her? Wasn't he ever of the opinion that she was dumb and shouldn't interfere in his business?

"I don't even care," she answered back indifferently, and the smile he wore pricked her skin.

"Hey, hey, what's ruining your mood today?" he asked softly as he approached her. You, of course! And why was he in a robe? Wasn't he going to work? As if he read her mind, he answered her. "I am not going to work today."

One of her brows arched up. "Why?" her tone was flat but she was indeed curious. Since when did he leave her work for anything…couldn't be that he was hanging out with Stephanie, well she was the only exception to his work. "You don't have to answer me."

She turned around to leave but what he said next, stopped her. "I wanted to apologize for the way that I behaved yesterday by making it up to you."

Not turning, she threw her question. "And what would make you think I care?"

Jeff suppressed his urge to cry. "I thought it was nice of me."

"Good, for you, not me."

Jeff hurriedly walked to her. "Please, I mean we can get to know each other more, at least as housemates?"
