Jeff in a blue tuxedo suit and Amy in black ripped pants and white singlet welcomed people to the party or rather Jeff welcomed people as Amy stood beside him with Bluetooth wireless earphones in her ears that were hidden by her long and thick dreadlocks and giving the guests a clearlyforced smile.
"You can drop the smile," Jeff suggested in her ear. She took one of the earphones out.
"One of us should at least make an effort to smile right?" she gave him a smirk and returned her earphones to their position.
Jeff dropped the matter as he spotted his friends dealing with other guests. He smiled a bit more when he noticed Mike and Amy bantering near the drinks. At least she was even talking to one of them. "Mr. Williams." He turned to see his 'father-in-law' standing before him with a sly smile. "I didn't know you would honor the request to have this party?"
Jeff didn't bother greeting him. "Hmm," he hummed nonchalantly. The man brushed past him and he rolled his eyes. He didn't know why after listening to Amy in the afternoon, his hate for the man tripled.
Amy noticed the man she loathed striding towards her and changed the topic immediately. "Mike what are you saying, my lovely husband is working hard nowadays?" she ignored the confused look on Mike's face and continued speaking loudly. "I am so lucky right?" the man she called father had already reached her.
"My daughter?" she looked behind him and saw reporters.
Smirking inwardly, she brought out her acting skills. "Do we know each other?" she asked innocently.
Her father's face changed thou quickly before returning to their initial façade. "I am your father Amy."
Amy gasped. "Oh my God, oh, you're the man I was supposed to call father." She gave him an angelic-like smile. "Forgive my manners but I never considered you father, I am sure no father sells their daughter as business gifts right?" she turned to the crowd that was in the hall room.
Her father's face turned ashen. "W-what are you saying, my daughter, didn't this man asked you to be married to him?"
Amy started laughing hysterically. "Wait, wait," she held her stomach. "You want to tell me that Jeff Williams, the cold man who was head over heels with his doctor girlfriend Stephanie, demanded to marry me?" she laughed again moving away from the man as she could already feel his anger brewing. "Who doesn't know Jeff, why would he even want to get married leave alone to a stranger?"
One of the reporters got the balls to ask. "Are you saying that your father married you off?"
Amy cleared her throat and smiled at the reporter. "I have said no such thing. Besides I have to say that I am happy to be here so whether I was forced or not, I am still here and my answer wouldn't change that."
"But young miss…" she lifted her hand to stop the reporter; her smile faded and was replaced by a cold aura.
"My villa isn't a conference room and this party wasn't hosted so that you can ask me questions, now excuse me." Her voice was neither loud nor soft. It was the kind that seemed to carry heaviness and finality in them. Something between a warning and caution.
She walked away to the drinks corner and took a glass of water. "Hmm, impressive," she turned around and saw Jeff leaning on the wall beside her, her lips curled up in a small smile.
"Hmm." She took the tumbler to her lips, gave him one look, walked out of the hall room, and headed to the east side where her room was situated.
On getting there, she took off her 'party gown' and slipped into her black pajamas. The day had been too great to be true, she wondered how her father was managing his reporters, oh, the feeling, sigh. Too great to be true. She couldn't believe she had been allowed to insult her good-for-nothing father while he couldn't do anything to stop her.
This new glory was indeed glorious for her. She plopped her body on the bed and even jumped on it several times smiling from ear to ear like a fool. Ah! This was great, she rubbed her hands excitedly. "You look happy?"
