Not a good idea (Edited)

As the car approached Florene, hotel, specifically reserved for the party, Amy exhaled loudly. She only hoped that Stephanie wouldn't come to the party because apart from her having to deal with a dress, she would have to deal with her 'husband's' girlfriend in public.

The car came to a halt and some men in black opened the doors for them. This was royalty, a stupid grin was plastered on her face as she alighted and almost felt overwhelmed when eyes landed on her. Her eyes wandered around the compound. This was what they called extra fancy hotels!

A hand linked with hers and she looked up to meet Jeff eyes on her. Why did this particular moment seem to make her slightly uncomfortable? Why did she feel like looking away, from tearing the gaze? Wait, was this called blushing? Was she, actually blushing? No, she was too stubborn to let her feelings take charge, she wasn't going to look away.

Her black eyes met his grey ones and he gave her a smile. A sweet one making her heart race and her mind freeze. Why did he have to be handsome? Somehow, she felt the energy and emotions in the smile, if that even existed. Something between comforting and assuring her that everything was going to be fine and a genuine smile that seemed to say that she was okay, well it could also be part of her very fertile imagination.

Then he softly tugged her hand and she followed him into the red carpet, hand in hand. Her feet almost wobbled but the firm grip Jeff held her with, mysteriously gave her some bit of confidence. "Hold your head high, gorgeous." he whispered in her ear, sending a tickling feeling in her spine.

She straightened her back, lifted her chin, swung her hips and walked like a queen she was. Though it was still unbelievable that she was here, walking in the red carpet with Jeff Williams, the world's richest man and the country's ex-favorite and charming bachelor as her husband. She wondered what her mother would think of it, if she was alive. Remembering her mother, gave her another dose of confidence to walk gracefully. This brought a tiny smile on Jeff's face who was watching her sideways. Hmm, a force to reckon with, he thought silently.

The party hall was something else. Men and women dressed to impress, different expensive colors of clothes and jewellery made the hall look glamorous. The auras coming from different personalities was also kind of disturbing and slightly making her uncomfortable but there was no way she was going to let that get to her. She steeled herself and walked on. If she wouldn't have been the hard nut she was, it would have been easy for her to feel intimidated by everything in the hall.

This thought made her click her tongue only to realize that actually, people were eyeing them. Of course, some with disgust, thinking she had forced away to Jeff's life. Some with envy for becoming Jeff William's wife, some with smiles, yes, she had noticed grandpa and Jason at a corner who flashed her their generous smiles. It seemed she wasn't the only one who noticed that because Jeff's hands reached for hers, squeezing them a bit.

It was as if he was claiming her and this just irked Amy who wanted to slap his hand away, but she knew that would be another scandal she wasn't ready to handle. So, for now, she secretly glared at him, she would have to bear with his poor manners for the night.

The party resumed after they greeted some few individuals she grouped as important and champagne was brought to them which Amy declined as politely as she could and instead ordered for water. She was sipping her water slowly went she saw Jeff's friends. Great, another terrible night. Watching them via her eyelashes, she didn't bother to lift up her head, no, she wasn't interested to be bullied and annoyed on this occasion too.

Too bad for her, Mike was in front of her before she could curse under her breath or even blink twice. "Hey, I didn't know Jeff was going to doll you up?"

Amy took a long breath and shook her head slightly. God, help her. She looked up and met his bald head shining in the party lights. A small giggle escaped her lips without her knowledge. "I am not dolled up." she said quickly trying to redeem herself.

Her eyes desperately searched the party for an escape route. Damn, wasn't Lucy supposed to be here? If she couldn't find an escape then she was doomed for real. Jeff himself was busy doing some small talk with some people she termed as rich and then, f*ck her eyes landed on her Amber. She exhaled and bit her lower lip hard to the point that she could almost feel a metallic taste on her tongue.

Her world shook when she saw Amber walking towards her.
