The car came to a halt in front of the mansion. She sighed and looked through the window as several other cars came to a stop. This was going to be a long week if not a month. She alighted and straightened her top before walking towards the house and stopping at the entrance. Never had she ever in her life imagined herself playing the role of a perfect wife and hostess to her in-laws.
The car doors opened one by one and then in the first car came Roy then Stormy, then the she-devil. It took her more energy to not scrunch up her face when the woman approached the entrance. The fact that Jeff was taking his sweet time to park his car, a thing he never used to do, didn't bother her. After all, hadn't she seen enough miracles for the day? "So, this is the perfect villa, Jeff never wanted us to see?" said the arrogant woman spat out as she passed her.
Amy inhaled and smiled at Roy and Stormy. She could only thank God that the two were kind. "Lead the way, sister," Stormy said with a smile. If only some people would follow her lead and be kind for once.
"Come in," as they walked in, she decided to talk. "This is the main living room, there are others around but I am sure you'll see that as times go." She gave the butler who was with them a look and nodded and exited the room coming back with a servant carrying a tray of lemonade. "Care for lemonade?" she asked as she looked at the two hopefully.
They both nodded and she let the servant serve them. "So, you guys don't get lonely here?" Stormy asked in her a little heavy English accent evident that she must have spent a lot of her time in Europe.
Amy who was sipping her drink, fluttered her eyelashes in confusion before she understood what Stormy was asking. "Hmm, most of the time we have our friends here." She posed a smile before stealing a look at the door. Where was that man, oh, and not to mention that hype aunt? Which corner of the villa was she and what was she criticizing right now, the workers? Poor them if they come across her. Maybe she should ask for their salary to be raised a bit. For real, Stephanie and then Imelda? They have been through a lot.
"I doubt Roy is easy to get along with, right?" Roy asked.
A smile came over her face especially when she saw Jeff approaching. "Yes, you are right, he is very…"
"Lovely and caring," Jeff said as he sat next to her, placing his heavy hand on her lap, she wanted to whack it but the she-devil got in the room too and she had to drop her idea.
Roy lifted his brows as if asking her if it was true, no matter how much she wanted to embarrass Jeff she knew that there was a reason why he didn't want his relatives to know how their relationship was. This time she let her brain take lead and remained mute.
