Crash And Burn

The second week of November arrives with a cold rain. As the remaining leaves fall to the ground, they carry with them a sense of change. The turning point of fall and winter excites the students of Lotusville High. After fall break arrives, then that means a larger recess is coming. Crash is uncertain. He sits in history class with his eyes glued to the window. 


Steady raindrops hit the glass and splatter. Although the voices have subsided some—Crash feels as though something is wrong. 'They are…too quiet...' the worried teenager thinks. The clouds roll across the sky and take the rain away with them. While scattered puffs of gray surround the sun, Crash is brought back to class.


The sound of the bell breaks his brooding thoughts. Crash follows the habitual command and readies himself to continue his routine. While caught in a daze, Crash fails to hear his voice being called. A familiar face approaches.


"Crash!" Stern hazel eyes stop him. "I've been trying to get your attention!"
