Chapter 20: Bad Luck

A brooding teenager sits beneath a barren tree. Upon the roots of his meditative space, Crash writes into his journal. The wind blows into his face. With a shiver, Crash braces himself in continuation of his thoughts…

'Sometimes, thinking can be hard. You find yourself…trapped in your emotions. You only trip and fall to the ground asking: Why? Why am I here when others are gone? These thoughts have become…persistent in recent days. I feel as though a weight rests on my shoulders.

'But, I'm not the only one. It feels as though a thick cloud hangs over the town. I'm not sure why, but I believe that others can sense it too. Please…don't be mad…or sad. Please know that I'm fine…'

Crash closes his journal and glances at the gray sky above. Despite the shorter days, time appears to move painstakingly slow. The daily chore of going to school and coming home seems to be dragged out.
