Chapter 23: Lost in the Rain

"Someone, help!" Crash calls out into the dark streets.

Despite his efforts, no one seems to hear his cries. Crash cannot help but to blame himself. 'I should've warned him!' In frustration, the teen starts to cry. He violently pursues the white vehicle. He cannot see a legible license plate. 'Calling the police now won't help,' he concludes. 'I have to make things…right.' The need to discover The Onlooker's lair grows with new urgency.

The chase leads back to Market Place. As Crash rides down the street, he observes more people than in the afternoon. He inhales a deep breath and bellows out his alarm.

"Someone, help!" Crash shrieks. "There's a stolen teen in that white car!"

Similar to the moment in Rosewood, the teen's voice goes unnoticed. He judges himself harshly for not being more cautious.

"If I called the police first," he struggles to say out loud. "Then, maybe they'd get him…before he could abduct the kid."
