Chapter 38: One Left

A loud clang echoes from the front of the warehouse. As the teenagers hear their capturers, their hearts drop. Crash scrambles to his foot. While reaching up, Crash knows that they won't have time. He locks his gaze onto Kyle. The determination in those green eyes reminds Crash of his other friend. The saddened teen represses his tears.

"Come on, Crash." Kyle extends his arm in earnest. "I'll pull you up."

A moment of silence persists. Sadly, Crash feels conflicted. With a shake of his head, Crash retracts his own hand.

"Go on without me," he calls up to the other. "Go…get help."

"Hey, I can't do that! That's risky, man!" Kyle furrows his brows. He whispers loudly while trying to avoid being noticed. "I can't just leave a friend behind."

"No, you need to leave," Crash replies with confidence. "I'll keep them busy."
