Chapter 47: Small discoveries.

Curled up against Gunner’s side, Kit and Gunner talked about work and life and nothing and everything. While Gunner’s sweet sexy accent flowed around Kit, the man’s hand glided back and forth across Kit’s shoulders. The day had long since evaporated, and Kit had no idea how he ended up snuggling with his caretaker. The plates were empty, the glasses held only melted ice, and Barb was asleep. As they fell into an easy silence, the only sounds that surrounded them were the crackle of the fireplace and the light rain on the windows. The quiet gave Kit a chance to think. If he stayed here much longer, he knew where this would go. It was time he said goodbye to Gunner North.

“I have work.” Kit started to untangle himself from Gunner’s side.

“Liar.” Gunner lifted one eyebrow. “It’s late, Kit.”

“It isn’t late in China.” Kit reached for his phone. “I should go.” He needed to call Dara. He would ask her to interrupt them.
