A world so dull, so grey.
This path I walk brings nothing but emptiness.
I look up over the lake of this high-rise bridge.
The mist of the height submerges me as look over the lake and fields.
I smile as I accept my life up to this moment.
Standing on the ledge,
I close my eyes,
As I decide to wipe the canvas blank.
Before I decide to descend, I feel a tug.
A girl, eyes filled with tears.
I get down looking at her, why?
Why was she crying?
It changed nothing; the world was still grey.
She looked up at me,
Why would you choose to do this?
Why would you want to disappear like this?
She grabbed my hand and walked me to the town.
The old, small, grey town.
How the memories are blanked out.
Blurred into a grey fuzz.
She no longer had tears in her eyes, she looked determined.
We sat in a cafe; the aromatic swirl of roasted coffee filled the air.
She sat there and ordered me a coffee.
She smiled as I took a sip.
Why is she happy in this terrible old town?
She continued to find me each day to do something new.
Slowly but surely, her presence started to glow, colours would lighten and glow.
She would always smile at me, a smile I began to cherish.
Days further passed and I looked forward to seeing her.
She had saved me from blurring into the grey.
One night came when we travelled to the bridge, the place where she pulled on me with tears in her eyes.
She looked at me and walked back to the ledge.
Fireworks are going go off soon, a romantic scene.
She smiled and tears rolled down her eyes as she said so.
"I wanted to tell you this, that day I too came to the bridge for the same reason as you."
She climbed and stood on the ledge facing me tears rolling down her cheek, trying to smile.
I was frozen, my mind racing with thoughts.
A firework raised to the night sky.
What are you doing?
The firework illuminated the sky bright colours.
Don't leave me...
She sobbed as tears streamed.
"But the world has turned away."
The firework flares descended,
Just like the only one who bought colour to my life.
More fireworks illuminated the sky as I stood frozen.
I climbed the ledge.
How ironic,
The sky was filled with colour, yet all my colour had become grey once again.
Just like the flares.
I descended into the dark grey.
Forever into the grey.
