Part 12 - Throwback II

"Don't hurt him!"

The man shouted as he ran towards his grandson who was lying on the floor with only half his life left, after being severely beaten by the prince who was watching the two of them. The people who watched the incident felt very sorry, but what if they were unable to help, because they were afraid of the prince.

They also knew the consequences if they interfered in matters concerning Prince Rafael, because everything related to him ended in death.

That is why he is known as the heartless Prince.

"I admire your bravery, Daewin... However, you are not my worthy opponent and it is too early if you want to fight me with only that dirty cane rope."

Prince Rafael said as he put his sword back and looked down at the man who was lying on the ground with wounds all over his body. Then turned his eyes to look at the eyes of the old man who was trying to protect his grandson by standing facing him.

Then he knelt down, his forehead touching the ground in front of the prince who was staring at him with ego, while the crowd watched them.

"Please let him go... He's still a child who knows nothing. Please, Prince Rafael... I'm begging."

Prince Rafael smiled wryly as he thought of something in his head, and nodded while biting his lip.

"If you don't want your granddaughter to be harmed, hand the girl over to me immediately. This is an order and you need to obey. You already knows what will happen if you decieved me."

The old man just looked at the girl who was crying while hugging Daewin who was half awake. He didn't know what he had to do to save the two teenagers.

But no wonder why did Daewin act like this. They have been friends since they were 6 years old, and live together because Hani has no family or relatives. Grandpa Ryo took Hani because she is a very hardworking and good child. In fact, she often helps Grandpa Ryo in the shop, because he has taken good care of her.

Although they are not related by blood, but after living together and getting to know each other, they are like family and love each other. Daewin also has no parents as they died at a young age and Grandpa Ryo took on the task of taking care of him from birth.

And now, he need to witness his grandchild being killed by this cruel princes?

His head turned towards the hand that was holding his shoulder, making him feel confused and stared at the girl beside him.

"It's okay, don't fight them anymore. I will surrender."

His eyes widened when he saw Hani walking towards Prince Rafael with tears streaming down her face. In her mind, she only wanted to save Daewin and her grandfather.

She knows sooner or later, she need to leave them althought she think to stayed with them for more longer. But the fate has another plan for her.

"H-Hani-... Don't-..."

They turn at the voice and it made Hani stop in the middle of her step and seeing Daewin trying to get up off the ground as he glared at the prince before coughing blood.

Hani know too that this boy will never give up.

"Daewin..."

"You don't have to mortgage your dignity for me, Hani. I won't let him take you just like that."

"Daewin, it's over! You can't fight them!"

"There's more thing i want to do with you, Hani. He can't just destroyed it just like that."

"But still! You can't fight them anymore! Please..."

Daewin's eyes turned to Hani who was sobbing, making his heart soft and sad to see his favorite girl is crying.

"If you don't want me to take this girl, can you replace her with your life?"

Hani was surprised to hear the words coming from Prince Rafael, and shook her head quickly towards Daewin, totally disagree with that stupid idea.

"Daewin, don't-"

"Will you keep your promise, if I give you my life?"

Before Hani could stop, Daewin cut his words while walking towards Prince Rafael covered in blood. His grandfather and Hani tried to stop him, but were held back by the soldiers who were around them.

"Don't do anything to him!"

The old man shouted, and got the attention of Prince Rafael who smirked.

"Just now I remember who you are, old man. No wonder it's like I know you. Apparently you are-"

"Didn't you hear what I asked earlier?"

Prince Rafael's eyes shifted to Daewin who was already in front of him, making him feel a chill.

"What is it?"

"Are you really going to let her go as we promised?"

Promised.

There's no way Prince Rafael could understand what is the meaning of that words. Everyone knows it don't have in his dictionary, since he never do that.

But Daewin still want to believed him, as he could keep his promised. Maybe he can believed him... Just this once.

"Maybe... I'll let her go if you're willing to pledge your life in exchange."

Prince Rafael grinned as he cinched his waist arrogantly before looking at Hani and his grandfather who were struggling to free themselves, but it was all in vain.

The crowd gasped as they saw Daewin kneeling on the ground, making Prince Rafael grin even more before taking his sword out of its sheath and swinging it upwards.

"Daewin! Don't!"

Daewin just stared at the ground, ignoring the calls from the grandfather and Hani who were trying to escape and stop him. He smiled at his grandfather who was looking at him with a pleading eyes, asking him to stop.

Then his eyes turn to his lover, who is still doesn't know that he is truly love her, for the entire of his life since he lay his eyes on her.

And he didn't know that if she loves him too.

He really want to know what Hani think of him. But he will be okay if she don't have a same feeling as him. At least, he got to spend more time with her and being happy by stayed on her side this whole time.

Just before his views become black, he mouthing something to her as everything become blur, only a hissing sound could be hear.

"I love you, Hani."
