Chapter 14

Steven swore under his breath, "These locks are anti-magic," a frown of worry started to appear.

"I got it," I said confidently. Pulling hard on the chains, willing them to break. They did. The shackle still over my wrist. He looked impressed.

"That door won't be easy to open but not impossible. Since I'm only a mage, I'm no match for Franklin's magic," he sounded thoughtful but panicked. "There is a slight flaw to your plan here. You locked us in," I explained.

"No," he shook his head, he grabbed my hand and rushed me to the far corner of the room. There was a vent. "This leads to the outside. We are about 4 miles from the school, if you make a run for it, you can make it," he explained and popped open the vent.

"What will happened to you?" I asked furrowing my brows.

"Don't worry about me. I can take care of myself," he smiled.

"Get back," Franklin's voice said.

"Go now," he whispered.
