(Tiernan’s P.O.V)
I couldn’t believe that Siobhan was my mate and that she basically rejected me without the actual words of rejection. What the hell?! Steele was whimpering in my mind, causing a dull ache in my chest not being near her. According to Steele, her wolf Tala wants to be with us but something that happened to Siobhan is holding her human counterpart back from accepting the mate bond. Siobhan was always beautiful, with her long black hair and her deep blue eyes always taking my breath away. She had an amazing figure, just like I remember, perky tits, a slim waist, and beautiful long legs. She was taller now, coming up to almost my chin, her long legs felt amazing being wrapped around my waist earlier.
“So, what happened between you and Si to cause her to be so icy to you?” I ask Patrick, surprised by the icy greeting he got.
“She hasn’t been home in almost a decade, and she doesn’t even really talk to us, so I don’t know why. I’ll ask her when she comes here tomorrow with her team.” He says.
“Wait, she’s coming here? Why?”
“Um, to talk to the Sykes family. They are here to investigate the kidnappings dude.” He answers as we get into our SUV to make our way back to the pack.
“Well then, we’ll just have to meet her there and discuss this with her.”
“Is she really your mate?” Patrick asks.
“Yeah, she is. Do you know why she is rejecting the bond?”
“No, she was raised to respect the bond and mate the Moon Goddess gives her.”
“Well, another mystery to be solved then,” I murmur, turning my attention back to the road as we pull out of the hotel parking lot.
My sleep was restless, now that I knew who my mate was, I wanted her in my bed. I wanted her scent around me. So, I woke up in the morning rather disgruntled until Steele reminded me that we would be seeing our mate today. I couldn’t help the giddy feeling that coursed through me at this knowledge, and I made sure to pick out the best suit I could find. I needed to allow her and her team to question the Sykes family without me there, but I was so anxious that Patrick and I ended up waiting outside the Sykes’s home for almost a half-hour before they exited the house. Her scent was calming and intoxicating, like a field of flowers on a warm summer day. Honeysuckle and wildflowers will forever be my favorite scent. She was not pleased with her brother and me being there when she exited the house, the look on her face proved that and her icy attitude just secured that knowledge.
“I need you and your team to come back to the packhouse, we will be discussing what information you collected,” I stated.
“That’s not going to happen, we have other families to interview about their children and that takes precedence over this impromptu meeting.” She bites out.
“Si, let’s just go, okay? We have enough time until our next interview to discuss this information with Alpha Tiernan.” The blonde female wolf stated.
“Camilla, we don’t have time.”
“Yes, we do, you are just looking for a way out.” Camilla snaps.
“Fine.”
With that, Siobhan and her team make their way to the packhouse. Patrick and I get in our car, I mind link my Gamma, Drake, to meet us in my office as soon as he was done with scheduling patrols. The packhouse has changed over the last decade because I burned down the old one when I lost control of my anger. I always cringe at the memory, but I thank the Moon Goddess every day that I was the only one in the building when I torched it. My father jokes with me that if I wanted to remodel the packhouse all I had to do was ask, that I didn’t have to be so dramatic about it. He knows the battle that I have when it comes to my anger, the power that I wield when I’m angry.
“What happened to the old packhouse?” She queries.
“It burned down,” I growl out, not wanting to comment further nor discuss what happened.
“Well, no need to get snippy about it. Remove the pole from your ass and chill.” She snaps back.
She walks off and makes her way into the packhouse, the others sniggering behind me. I glare at Patrick and her minions before following her into the packhouse where Siobhan is waiting for me at the base of the stairs, obviously realizing she no longer knows where the Alpha’s office is. I glare at her and she growls back at me, you aren’t the only one pissed off honey! I stomp my way up the stairs, seething.
You need to calm down Ty. I can feel it.
I’m trying Steele but she’s pissing me off.
Well, if you don’t get it under control our secret will be out, and we’ll have to build another packhouse.
I walk into my office and throw myself in the chair behind my desk. Closing my eyes, I take a few deep breaths, and the scent of my mate reaches my nostrils, helping me to calm down. I opened my eyes and see that everyone is standing in the office waiting for further instructions.
“Have a seat everyone.”
Once everyone is seated, the woman named Camilla starts to go over what Joanna Sykes had told them; about the disappearing scent and how quickly it all happened. They were going to be coming back in a few days to talk with the other Sykes children: JJ, Bonnie, and Kurt. Steele was connecting with Tala during the meeting, trying to get information out of her as to why Siobhan is against accepting our mate bond. It’s getting difficult to concentrate on tuning him out and actively listening to the conversation that is happening in my office.
“Alright, that’s enough for now. Thank you for the information, please let us know what else you find and let either myself, Patrick, or my Gamma, Drake, know when you will be returning so we can notify the guards on duty at the gate.” I say, before walking out of the office.
I make my way outside and strip out of my clothes before shifting into Steele and taking off towards the woods. I needed to calm down or something bad was going to happen.
