26 - A deal made

So of course he listen.ed. And finally the boy spoke his mind. And to Aegefon it wasn't what he expected.

Instead the boy had given him a good reason as to why the war so many years before had been lost. His great sword dropped as his arms slacked out of tiredness from the realization.

"So, the didn't come because the didn't want to. Chose the majority over the minority or else they'd lose their great followers" Aegefon mutter with a sad sigh before a scowl planted on his face.

"And you, what did you choose and why are you here now after all?" Aegefon hissed his palms dropping his sword tight. For an old man he was showing much strength.

Still Erizo couldn't be any bit bothered by this he was preoccupied with forging rewards fast before those girls got here.

The prompt for the completion of the second subquest was already flashing in his vision. Sighing mentally he swiped it away before focusing back on Aegefon and the question.

"My choice doesn't matter since I couldn't choose. But my presence here is only for one reason Aegefon. You can let your hate for the gods blind you to this chance. It won't stop what is to happen. It will only happen with someone else."

"I seek a priest Aegefon."

"What does that have to do with me and my people damn God"

"What if I told you that I could make this lands yours?"he asked

"The lands are ours" Aegefon retorted stubbornly.

"Are they? Seems more like a prison than a home to me". He commented leaning back in his seat before going silent.

" Do you believe in fate old man?." Erizos asked his gaze going out the windows to the dark night outside. A shooting star flashed right by in the sky.

"Of all the directions I picked and decisions I made all led here to this. Like fate wanted this to happen. " Erizo glanced to his palms as he spoke then to Aegefon.

"Humans can use this opportunity I'm granting to rise back to normalcy. To seize back your rights or whatever. Look you led the last revolt and it got you here. I know you wear your brand with a pride that others lack. I admire that but still proud or not it remains what it is, a curse. One that won't stop no matter how you see it."Erizos looked straight at Aegefon with a cold gaze.

" Whilst you feel proud about it. Do you think the younger generation would feel the same. "

"What do you get out of this?. " Aegefon asked after contemplating. "And don't spill sciran ass about benevolence".

"Far from that. I'd be stupid to risk enmity with all the gods just for 'benevolence'. No what I need is you humans,"

"We serve no gods." Aegefon spat.

"You don't need to serve me. Just accept." Aegefon's eyes narrowed. Erizos just stared. He wasn't stupid to say why he actually wanted them.

Telling humans how gods survived was basically giving out a weakness. It would be detrimental not just to him but to all gods. Well here in this multiverse. Still he felt it a blow to low to make.

"Anyone in mind should be perfect for the ability I wish to grant."

Aegefon stared. The entire conversation still not registering in his brain. Finally he looked away the great sword loosening from his grip. A bit of hope flashed in his eyes but the doubt there was still apparent.

"Removing the curse on you and your generation would alert those who made it. Since well it was made to not just control but also watch and make sure no uprising begins."

"So, ..." he paused and then looked to the side. Before looking back and raising am arm. Slowly he drew and formed a symbol in mid air, white light glowing as the symbol remained hovering.

Then he pushed it to the man. Aegefon stepped back and Erizos sighed.

"If I wanted to harm you then I wouldn't need your permission. "

The old man agreeing stayed still as the rune was moved into his chest. The rune dimmed as it dissolved into his body. Aefefon shivered at the warmth spreading over him before a coldness seeped in.

He watched the young god tsp his chest snd pull out an orb with a little flickering purplish light within.

"What's with curses and evil in general always getting depicted as purple, black or red. Biased if i'd say". Erizos cursed before a smile lit up his face as he stared into space yet again.

You're good now". Was all he said.

Aegefon didn't need to be told. He could feel it. The curse hadn't just suppressed his other abilities but also stopped him from gaining more abilities.

At the moment he could feel the hot rush of his Vulcan Beat filling into his pores and all over him. Steam left his body rising up as he breathed heavily.

" Nice. A blacksmith. Need one of those" Erizos muttered as he watched the old man release steam. The wrinkles on his face seemed to fade and gave him a more youthful though still old look.

His head remained bald but his stance changed quite a bit as he accessed himself. A wry smile flashed on his face.

"I can clear off the mark too if you wish?" Erizos offered. Aegefon shook his head as he tightened his fists continuously.

"Let it be our sign. A symbol of this new pact between us. As long you protect us we will be your humans" The old man made to kneel and for the first time Erizos found his instincts kicking in.

It hadn't been long he had become a god and while he was slowly growing a God's ego he still had a lot more of human in him.

Especially with his past memories and few behaviors that stuck with him toll now. Like the one that pushed him to try and stop the old man's bow. He froze in his steps though listening to a familiar voice in his head as a frown crossed his face.

'Don't let this get to you' he told himself as he coughed.

"No need for all that, I'm not that kind of god. I'll pick a priest now from your people and whoever I choose will come to you."

Turning he waved his arm and walked out of the room through a spatial portal behind him a still kneeling old man slowly stood while flexing his fists.

"One day" Aegefon said his eyes flashed with a promise as he looked to the North a smile creeping up his lips.
