Lovers

Deep in her thoughts, Amy found herself alone in the venue corridor. Maddie and Celine were out of sight. Amy looked for her phone only to realize that Celine had used it earlier to call his brother because Celine's phone battery had died.

"Ugh. Just my luck," Amy cursed under her breath.

Amy thought of two options. 1) she could get a taxi, go back to their hotel, and call them through the hotel's phone. 2) she could find her way into the after-party even if it meant opening every door in the building.

Blowing the strands of her hair out of her face, Amy decided to yolo* it up and went door to door.

The first door she opened was a room full of wedding decorations. From what it seems, a wedding had been held there earlier in the morning. There were pink and white roses that somebody effortlessly hung in vines that surrounded the whole room, making it like a scene from a fairytale. Rose petals were all over the floor.

Amy sighed. The thought of almost marrying Noah flooded her mind, but Amy quickly dissolved this absurd imagination as she remembered what Noah did the night she found the courage to say yes.

Amy opened two more doors to only be humiliated. One door led to people doing some prayer meetings, and the other led to two workers getting it on. Amy hurriedly ran out of the room. They must have heard her open the door because the moment she saw them, they looked like they'd seen a ghost.

"This must be it. It's the last door on this floor," Amy said. Erasing the image of the wild beasts she saw earlier, Amy did a little shake and opened the door. She could hear cheers and loud music.

"Amy?"

Said a giant man holding two beer bottles.

"Aaron? Why are you here? You like Kpop, too?" Amy couldn't hold her surprise. Who would have thought this gorgeous wide receiver was into Kpop? Amy then thought of something.

Before Aaron could utter a word, Amy grabbed one of the beers from Aaron's hand, held on to his wrist, and led him to the dance floor.

"Come with me; you must meet my sister, Maddie."

"Wait, Amy," Aaron protested. When Amy turned around to ask Aaron what's the problem. A familiar person appeared behind Aaron's back. Noah; his hair was loose, just like how she always tells Noah she likes it. He wore a causal shirt that complemented his broad shoulders and loose denim pants. Amy's heart tightened.

"Why are you both here?" Amy asked in disbelief.

"It's the state's congratulatory party for the team. Did you already forget?" Aaron said.

Amy felt all the blood from her body disappear. 'Fck, how can this be happening to me.' She knew the party was today. But she didn't think it would be at this place.

A gentle hand then grabbed her wrist. She knew this hand. She held this hand for years. All the hair on her body stood. She's holding back her tears.

"Let go, you asshole," Amy said, whisking her arm away from Noah's grip.

"Amy, please…Amy wait"

Amy ran out the door. Her blood was boiling. She needs to get out of this mess fast. She can hear Noah's voice nearing her; 'of course, this magnificent quarterback can outrun her,' Amycursed under her breath. . She doesn't want to see him moreover talk to him. She needs a plan of escape asap.

"Babe, sorry to keep you waiting. I stopped over to say hi to my friends over there. Let's go" Amy then wiggled her way next to this man waiting in front of the elevator. Amy positioned herself to hug this man's waist, hiding underneath the man's long arm and shoulder.

"Amy, please let's go somewhere where we can talk. Just the two of us. We have an unfinished business that needs sorting out," Noah commanded like the true team captain that he is. His voice was firm but gentle.

Assessing the situation, the man spoke, "babe do you know this person? Is he harassing you?" His voice was soft but dominant.

The man pulled Amy closer to his chest and looked at the man with a certain aura of power. Not all people can stand an aura-show-off with Noah. She's seen people try to intimidate Noah, only fail. But this man, the way he stood, the way he spoke, the way he held into her, he has this confidence in him that even Noah can't shake off.

"I know he's not your lover. Let's go" Noah took a few steps to grab Amy when the elevator opened just in time.

The man moved his arm, interlocked his fingers with Amy's shaky hands, and led her inside the elevator. "I think you're mistaken. If there's a lover around here, I'm pretty sure it's not you".

The man's word left Noah gobsmacked.

The man was right. He was no lover; he broke Amy's heart. And so Noah stood there watching Amy hold hands with another man.
