Dream Team

Weeks passed, and Amy was getting more comfortable adjusting to her new role in a new environment. It was not as time-consuming as her previous job, but the load was heavier. She didn't mind it, though; she likes being challenged.

And as her sister had said, Axis21 announced that they are releasing a new album. Ever since she came back to Korea, although they were constantly communicating, she and Jim had not seen each other.

Amy misses him terribly, but she understands that Jim and the other members are busy making their album their best one yet for all their fans- being a fan herself, she can't wait to hear their new songs. Jim has been very secretive about it too. She can't help but smile at Jim's sweet and childish attempts to conceal information about their much-awaited album.

It was 3pm on a Friday when a knock on Amy's office door startled her.

"Dr. Amy?" Dr. Cha entered unusually solemnly.

"Dr. Cha, please come in; what brings you here?" Amy stood from her chair and directed Dr. Cha to her lounge, where she also sat. "Do you want something to drink?"

"I'm good, Dr. Amy; thanks for asking." Amy couldn't help but notice that; this usually very cheerful, enthusiastic old man was quiet and reserved.

"I got a call that a rare case is referred and will be admitted under our care-under; your department, to be specific. As chief, I personally ask you to be in charge of this case and do an in-depth case study."

"What's the case?

"Crouzon Syndrome*. 18 months old baby girl" Dr. Cha sighed.

"Crouzon Syndrome?!" Amy exclaimed, "well, that's" she was lost for words. "When will she be transferred?"

"She's being transported as we speak. Now I know weekends are off limits unless on-call, but" Dr. Cha stopped talking. Amy now realizes why he looked so gloomy when he arrived. "Please stay for this one."

"How bad is it?" Amy asked.

"I don't know the details, but from what I read, it has become worst, and she has had sleep apnea* more often. I will have my secretary email you the file."

"Mmm. The client will need more than one surgery that, I am sure," Amy's mind was already thinking of surgical procedures and plan of care. 'It will be worst if the client develops hydrocephalus,' she thought.

"The client developed hydrocephalus a day ago. The reason why it is being transferred here," Dr. Cha said while noticing Amy's face suddenly grew pale.

"You are staying, aren't you?" Dr. Cha asked, waiting for a positive response.

"I'd be foolish not to," Amy forced a smile. "Please have your secretary email me the file. Do we have a plastic surgeon?"

"Yes, we do. Dr. Son should be available," Dr. Cha replied.

"If it's alright with you, can I make my surgical team?"

"I'd be furious if you won't" Dr. Cha smiled. He stood up and patted Amy's shoulder.

"You are the perfect doctor for this case, Dr. Amy; I have no doubt in my mind. Please update me with progress. I'll be taking my leave now".

When Amy sat back in her chair as she read through the list of doctors under her department. She then grabbed her phone office and dialed 1.

"Can you please check if Dr. Felix Lee and Dr. Yoo In Na are still in the hospital? Have them see me as soon as possible. And have Dr. Song on my line," Amy instructed.

A little after, Amy's office phone rang. "Dr. Yoo In Na is in the building and is already informed, but Dr. Felix Lee is not present; do you wish for me to contact Dr. Felix to come into your office?" Jen asked on the other line.

"Yes, please. I need them both in my office and in the building. I also need a printed archive of 'crouzon syndrome.' Is Dr. Song still unavailable?" Amy asked.

"Hold on. Oh, Dr. Song should be in line 4."

"Great. Thank Jen" Amy pressed 4.

"Dr. Song. This is Dr. Amy Fitzgerald from the pediatric neurosurgery department. Do you have a minute?"

"Yes, Dr. Fitzgerald, what's the matter?"

"I have a client that I need your expertise with. She crouzon syndrome; she might need reconstructive surgery."

The woman on the other line and Amy talked about the possible facial reconstruction of the client and agreed to consult each other.

"Dr. Amy?" Jen said on the other line. "Dr. Yoo In Na is here."

"Please let her in," Amy insisted. "How about Dr. Felix?"

"Dr. Lee said that he will be here shortly. 15 minutes maximum, he said"

"Okay, please have the case study ready, and print 2 more copies each for Dr. Yoo and Dr. Lee" Amy put the phone down and met an older yet dashing Dr. Yoo In Na by the door.

"Dr. Yoo, thank you for coming on such short notice."

"My pleasure Dr. Fitzgerald. To what do I owe you?" The refined Dr. spoke.

Amy explained the current situation to Dr. Yoo, which she was honored to be part of. Dr. Yoo has been a pediatric neurosurgeon for some time, and Amy wanted to hear her approach to such a rare case. Amy is brilliant and capable, but even Amy knows there's knowledge in age, and Dr. Yoo was 16 years her senior.

"Sorry I'm late," a young male's voice barged in.

Felix entered the room, panting. 'He must have run here,' Amy thought.

Felix was dressed casually, wearing a white crew neck shirt and brown capri pants with matching brown rubber shoes. Even in a simple causal outfit, Felix stood out.

"Glad you came, Dr. Felix," Amy addressed the man who looked so much younger from the last time Amy saw him. "This is Dr. Yoo In Na; I believe you've met?"

Felix bowed to show respect and told Amy they had worked a few times in the past year. Amy filled Felix with information. Dr. Yoo chimed in from time to time.

A knock on Amy's office intruded on their discussion. So Min made herself known and walked in to pass the case study Amy requested.

"The new patient had been admitted," So Min informed Amy. "She should be in station 3- intensive unit." She continued glancing at Felix, who was looking at the paper she handed not a while ago.

"Thank you, So Min." Amy looked at the time. "It's past 4. You should go home."

"Thank you, Dr. Fitzgerald," So Min beamed and said her goodbyes.

When she shut the door behind her, So Min was starstruck by Felix's beauty. "I wonder if he has sns?" She said to herself and beamed as she took her phone and typed Felix Lee.
