Chapter 19

For the past few days, that she was in the hands of John, Maddie tried to escape several times. Unfortunately, she failed those times, and it had become frustration for her. Maddie wants to get out of there, want to see James and Drew, she miss them so much. I hope Drew is behaving, even though he's a little dare devil sometimes, I know that he's always happy. Maddie thought to herself while sitting next to the window and hoping that someone will pass there and receive her letter to pass to the police station, but no luck, plus it's already midnight and everyone is sleeping already.

Maddie sighed, she turned her head to the left and saw that John was sleeping peacefully on the bed. Maddie got up from the chair and walked to the door, when she tried to open it, it's locked like always.

She wanted to scream from frustration, but didn't, because didn't want to hurt her baby. I promise you baby, we'll be out of here soon. I know your daddy will come for us and save us. Maddie patted her flat belly and talked to her baby that was growing inside of her. She went to the couch that she putted in the corner and tried to sleep.

At the next morning, Maddie woke up suddenly, like seething jolt her from the sleep. When she looked around, her hand touched a pillow and a soft bedding. That's weird, I'm sure I went to sleep on the couch. How did I end up in this bed? Could it be… Maddie looked to the other side and saw that it was empty. She sighed and got up from the bed to do her business.

After a good shower, she went to sit beside the window. Maddie watched as people were passing by the house she was, she knocked at her window to catch someone's attention, but no one looked at her direction. Maddie wanted to cry from frustration, it's felt like people were ignoring her signs of help. Suddenly, someone stood in front of her window and Maddie felt happy. She took the letter that was prepared yesterday and wrote to that person to bring this letter to the police station and insert it under the window and hoped that this person will catch it and go to the police with it.

Maddie watched as the young man looked shocked at the letter and nodded to her and took off. She watched him run until she lost the sight of him. I hope you'll see my letter, James. I miss you so much, come and save me my love. Maddie thought to herself while watching hoping this letter will get to the hands of the police.

As James sat in his car, he couldn't stop thinking about Maddie and their baby. He was worried that John will find out or worst, but he had hopes that Maddie will fight him.

After a long ride, they finally arrived in Alabama. While driving inside Alabama, they asked the locals direction to the police station.

In an hour, they arrived at the station, outside a man in his 50s' stood there. James watched as he waved to them. As they stopped their cars, James got out and went to him.

"Detective Frost, I suppose?"

"Yes, I am, and you are Sargent James Davis. It's nice to meet you, actually. I've heard a lot about your base. I heard your girlfriend got kidnapped by John Brown and she is currently with him."

"Yes, sir. I need your help and permission to let my men check the situation in that house, if that's fine with you?"

"Of course, young man. You are all welcome here."

"Thank you, sir." James turned around and looked at his men that stood ready for his commend. "Personally, thank you for coming with me to help and rescue my future wife. Group one, you'll go to the west of the house and be careful. Group two will go to the east side and if you find Maddie's warehouse, let me know through the communicator."

"Yes, sir." James heard them loud and clear. He felt proud of them. James watched as they left and turned back to go inside but stopped as a young man approached the station.

"Sir, are you…" the young man took a breath and tried to relax. "Are you a policeman?"

"I'm a Marine Corps, why?"

"Some lady threw her letter and wrote on it so I could bring it to the police station."

"You can give it to me, young man. I'm here to rescue a woman."

The young man gave the letter to James. When he saw the handwriting, his eyes grew bigger. The letter is from Maddie. He opened it and read it.

James,

If you are reading this letter, it means that I found someone to bring it to you. Please find me and save us. I miss you so much. John did nothing to me, but I'm scared that he'll do something in the end. Please hurry.

I'm waiting for you, my love.

Maddie

James felt relief, knowing that she was fine and also their baby. He folded the letter and went to the station.

"Detective Howard and Frost, I just received Maddie's letter from a young man that saw her. In her letter, she says that John did nothing to her, but she is afraid. We need to do something."

"What do your men says? Did they find her warehouse?" James pulled out his communicator and spoke.

"Group one, over. Do you copy me?"

"This is Group one, over."

"Did you locate the woman? Over."

"Not yet, sir. We are on the way. Over."

James sighed and continued. "Group two, over."

"This is Group two, over."

"Did you arrive at the location? Over."

"We did, sir. I've sent some of my men to see if there is someone at the house. Over."

James felt relief that at least they arrived. "Group two, the moment that you have a sign that someone is there, report back to me. Over."

"Yes, sir. Over."

James sat down in the chair and waited.

"Relax son, have some juice. It won't help you if you'll feel too tired to rescue your girlfriend, have faith in your men."

"Thank you, detective Howard." James drank his juice and ate something, even though he wasn't starving.

"Eagle, over. This is Group Two. We have the woman in sight but no sight of the target."

"This is Eagle. Monitor the house. The moment you see the target report back, over."

And now, the only thing that is left is to wait for John to appear in the house, so he could catch him with his own hands and beat him until he beg for mercy.

As Maddie sat down next to the window all day, she hoped her letter arrived at the hands of James. While looking outside, she saw soldiers outside of her window. She can recognize them by their uniform that they are from the same base that James is. Maddie sighed in relief now that the help has arrived. The soldier saw her, and she waved him; she saw he was reporting back to James that he found her. She wished that he'll come for her soon.

She knows they can't do anything until John appears, but he left town in the morning and told her he'll be back in the evening. All left for them is to wait for John's arrival and they'll catch him.

A few hours later, Maddie looked outside and saw John's car arriving at the parking. She felt happy, because soon they'll free her from him.

James was currently sitting on the couch at the police station, waiting for his men to report back to him about John's arrival. After what felt like forever, he heard the word through the communicator, the word that he waited all day.

"The target has arrived, over. What are the next steps?"

"Wait for my arrival, I'll be there in 20." James looked at detective Howard and Frost, who nodded their heads and screamed to the other policemen to prepare them self for a rescue operation.

In a few minutes, everyone was ready, and they all got inside to their respective cars and drove to John's neighborhood to save Maddie. Finally, he'll be able to hug her and take her back home with him.

As he promised his men, in 20 minutes they all arrived at the location.

"What is the status, Richards?"

"Sir, the target is inside the house and the woman is upstairs in that window that is above our heads." James looked up at the window that Richards pointed at and there she was, his woman at the woman crying as she's looking at him and smiling. He also smiled at her and waved to her to reassure her he's there for her.

"Sir, the target is heading upstairs. What should we do?"

James looked at Richards and wrote fast on a paper to Maddie to let her know John was on his way up the stairs.

Maddie saw James's note and turned away from the window and calmed herself down. Now that James is there, she can relax.

"You've missed me, darling?"

Maddie looked at John and said nothing. She turned her head and continued looking at the houses outside of the window. Suddenly, she felt as he pulled her hair. "Don't you dare to ignore me, you stupid bitch! When I ask you something, you answer to me!"

"Well, I will not answer a stupid question. You know what my answer will be!" John yanked her up and threw her to the bed. Maddie fought him. She won't submit to him anymore. She's not the same person she was when she was dating him. Maddie knee him in the crotch and ran outside of the room screaming for help.

"Please, someone help me! James!!!!" Maddie wanted James to burst in and save her, ashes was running down the stairs, John caught up with her and wanted to grab her hand, but she elbowed him in the nose and because of the pain he felt, he pushed her down the stairs. Maddie screamed as she was falling down the stairs and then darkness danced in her eyes. Before she lost consciousness, she heard the front door bursting and James's voice calling for her.

James watched as John grabbed Maddie by the hair and then lost sight of them.

"What the hell is going on there now?"

"Sir, the woman escaped John and currently is out of the room."

"We are getting inside, NOW!" James ordered one of his soldiers to burst the door open, and the moment he did, James watched in horror as Maddie was falling down the stairs.

"Grab that bastard! Maddie..." James ran to her side and hold her, while his man grabbed John and the police handcuffed him and took him to the police car.

"Call 911 right now! We need an ambulance at this moment! Maddie, please hang on. I got you."

In 10 minutes, the ambulance arrived and James rode with Maddie to the hospital in hopping that their baby was OK. James felt fear for the first time since he lost Paula; he didn't want to lose Maddie too.
