Chapter 56

Alpha Peter Goon stood in his office, bored out of his mind. There hasn't been anything exciting happening lately, and he was anxious to change that. A knock sounded and he granted entry. One of his warriors stood there, an envelope in hand. "Did you get them?" he asked. The man smiled and handed over the package. Peter took it and emptied the contents on the desk. He sorted through them, putting the ones he thought to be more useful to one side. The others he would keep as backups. Nodding, he smiled, "Great work, as always." Peter reached into his drawer, took out a smaller envelope, and tossed it to the man. He opened and checked the money, satisfied that it held the agreed amount. As he left, his wife entered.

Luna Shelly walked around her mate's desk to look at what was brought in. Leafing through, she smiled as she thought of all the things they could use it for. The two looked at each other and shared a grin. This was going to be fun.

Bradley was having a meeting with Dr. Lorenzo when one of his warriors linked him. He sounded concerned so Bradley paused his meeting and asked the warrior to come to his office. He also linked Sam to stop by, since he could hand it over to his Beta depending on what the issue was. Soon a knock was heard and the warrior opened the door. He didn't say anything but held a package in his hand. There was no name other than Bradley's nor a return address. Since that was the case, the protocol was for the package to be opened to ensure it was not dangerous to the Alpha or the pack. The warrior extended his hand, knowing that the contents were not a physical threat to his Alpha, but maybe an emotional one.

Sam came in at that moment, and Bradley, nodded, indicating that the man could leave. He took out the letter and the smaller envelope inside. He read the letter. It simply said 'From a concerned friend.' He handed it to Sam, not recognizing the handwriting. Opening the smaller package, he took out what appeared to be a pile of photos. The top one showed Trishanna arriving back at Bloodmoon. Bradley's hands shook. Was this James' way of torturing him even more? He leafed through photos showing her taking walks with that bastard, eating, and sitting in what seemed to be a garden of some sort. It was the last few pictures that made his chest tighten. It showed James and Trishanna having a picnic. The way he looked at her in the photo, it was clear that his feelings for her grew, as much as her belly which was now very noticeable.

The next one showed James caressing her baby bump, followed by him kissing it. Bradley's jaw was clenching by now and his canines grew with rage and frustration. The last one showed James carrying Trishanna like a sleeping princess back into the house. His house. "Damn it" Bradley cursed and punched his desk, the photos falling out of his other hand. Sam saw and grabbed one. He refrained from whistling his shock at how clear each image was. Whoever sent these wanted Bradley to have no doubts about what was happening with his mate.

Lorenzo jumped up and stepped back, clutching his chest, a strange look on his face. Sam looked up at his Alpha, and almost buckled at his oppressive aura. It was almost visible. Some of the members linked him as they could feel that something was terribly wrong with their leader. Sam wasn't sure what to tell them, but he did ask all warriors to be on standby. If Bradley went berserk, it would take more than him to subdue him. He even linked the terrified doctor, who has never seen Bradley lose his cool, to prepare a few tranquilizers, just in case. He nodded and left. Bradley seemed to be lost in his own mind and Sam wasn't sure how to get through to him.

Bradley saw red. He and his wolf were in a state of shocked anger. How dare that bastard put his hands on what is his. And how could his mate let him? He glanced back at the photos. Trishanna didn't look disgusted or forced. She actually looked like she was fine with his touch. Had she forgotten what James did to her? Did she forgive him? Has she given up on them? He shook his head. NO. There was no way that he was going to let her walk out of his life. He didn't care what that stupid document said, or that he should do things the legal way. He was tired of not being with his mate, so he and his wolf are going to take matters into their own hands, NOW.

Sam heard Bradley's bone crack and rearrange and soon his wolf stood there, breathing hard, teeth bared. "Oh, shit", was all he could say, before the massive beast jumped over the desk, almost knocking Sam off his feet, and ran out the door, Sam shifted and linked out orders while trying to catch up with his Alpha, but the rage fueling him, made Bradley faster than ever before, and soon Sam lost sight of him in the forest that bordered between them and Bloodmoon. He needed to get to him and fast, or else there would be a bloodbath today.

Rallying the warriors, he paused and gave instructions. He even asked one of them to bring Samuel along as he was sure Trishanna would need some support as well. As Sam ran, Councilwoman Seers linked him, as she sensed the murderous aura coming from her nephew. Sam clued her in and she sighed in frustration. She was going to have to work really hard to get him out of the hot water he just decided to dive headfirst into. Cynthia raised her head and prayed that something or someone would be able to stop Bradley from making a decision that could ruin his life.
