New Beginnings II

Alex wakes up the next morning at four in the morning, unable to sleep any longer. Likely the unplanned nap in the middle of the day didn't help things either. She decides to get showered and changed and with nothing else to do she packs the bags and heads off to the college campus.

She still had about six hours before the first class, which would be in astrophysics, and she just happened to read the textbook the previous night, and still had the whole thing fresh in her mind. Now to see how long such information remains, it would, supposedly fade away after some time, Even if AI Alexia ensured her she effectively had an eidetic memory now, Alex wasn't one to put full trust in that. Maybe with a few more points added to intelligence? then possibly, but right now? well only time will tell.

She takes the time sitting in the vehicle in reading a couple other textbooks, she figured she could get through two of them before the start of the class. So she chose the mathematics and aeronautics books. She got lost with the reading of them and didn't pay attention to the time. Looking at the clock she realized that she is running late and would be just a few minutes late to the class, so she heads to the specific room.

The professor was mid speech when she finally made it to the room. Instead of trying to not make a scene, she resolved herself to know that with the door being in the front of the class, there was no chance of sneaking in. So she boldly opened the door but remained respectable in trying to not make more noise than absolutely necessary, However the professor still paused mid sentence.

"Excuse me miss....?" The professor pauses and turns all the attention to Alex as she walks into the room.

"Voss, Sir. I'm sorry for being late, I lost track of time while studying" Said Alex

The professor holds up his hand "Madam, I've heard every excuse for students being late you could imagine, I don't care. I have a rule for my class, Be on time, otherwise I will be marking against your points." Alex shrugs slightly and makers her way to an empty

The professor glares daggers at her as she walks away taking the attitude as if she didn't care to even be there. Alex also caught some of the murmurs from the class commenting about her appearance because the form she decided to take was quite eye-catching, with her fiery red hair and slim build.

She took her seat and focused on the class as the professor went back to teaching. The topic of the class was about the basic interactions of stellar bodies, and the gravitational effects of them. during the course of the three hours of the class, Alex was notified of an increase to the knowledge skill level of two. Having someone that is more knowledgeable in a topic really did have an effect on the skill gain, but had it not been for the increase to her intelligence stat, it would be unlikely that she would have gained more than one level from the class.

She was still a bit unsure about the apparent gradients of the knowledge skills. Though it seems to indicate that there are various levels of mastery, and then levels within that mastery of the knowledge. As it was just yesterday she was at a beginner level of the Theron language, but after allocating the two skill points, she is at a basic level now. It seemed like after five levels of knowledge it would go up a mastery level. More testing on this will be needed, and the school is the best place to figure this out.

The next class she attended for the day was the mathematics class, it was fairly uneventful, and her having memorized the textbook earlier that day helped greatly with her being able to understand the advanced calculus that the professor was going over.

Math is the basis of many disciplines, and would be the foundation for Alex to understand anything with the ship when going about reverse engineering the technology to be used for humans, and to develop human technology. It while seemingly complicated, math is actually quite simple when you break it down to the sum of its parts.

So it was not entirely unexpected but still a surprise when she looked at the skill gains for the math knowledge and it went from a beginner rank to basic rank by the end of the class. And because of her newfound understanding of mathematics, her understanding of the information she gained from the astrophysics class deepened.

There were only the two classes scheduled for the day so she decided to return home and head to the ship. After getting back to the house, she stripped down and shifted to her normal male form.

The process still took a couple of minutes to carry out, and it was the first time in two weeks that Alex had shifted back to this form he stretched out some 'feels good to be back in my own skin, not sure when I'll get used to the whole thing. Keeping up with it in my head is still blasted confusing.' He pulled out the comm module and signaled the ship to transport him up there.

"Lex what would you suggest I study first? I'm wondering if the communications device and technology might be the best thing at the moment?"

[ Honestly, it won't matter what you decide to research first, everything is so far advanced from what your society is currently capable of understanding, theres not even the technology for you to manufacture anything yet. Though the computer systems might be the easiest for you to reverse engineer at present. The rest can come after that]

Alex nods and heads up to the bridge, he pulls up some repair manuals and schematics. As well as some of the requisite science information regarding the quantum processing of the ships computer system. His new found knowledge not even at a level yet for him to understand what he's reading, he just worked on translating it to his native language so that he could study it and also gain practice with the Theron Language.

Several hours pass and Alex decided to take a break for the day, having managed to fully translate and transcribe some of the engineering manuals for the computer systems, and some other technical information. He glanced over the work and understood very little about what he was seeing, but what he did know is that once this got published in some scientific journals, it would definitely cause a firestorm.

However, while he could just simply transcribe it and publish it as his own, it did him no good to not understand it himself. Because he would certainly be asked questions about it. So with that thought in mind, he went to the meal room to grab something to eat then to get some sleep. His class schedule didn't have anything until the following day after tomorrow.
