Chapter - 12 - Arrogant fool

After a few minutes, Dr. Victor and Dr.Ralph reached the ICU only to find four muscular men in black suits and an elderly man standing at the entrance with his back facing them. They halted their steps a few metres away from the men. 'Are they the few men the head nurse mentioned?' Victor thought and gave a sidelong glance at the nurse and wanted to shout at her that 'They are not men, they are huge goons !!!' 'Oh….that deep scar on the chin looks really scary.' thought Ralph as he noticed the scar from the side and looked away instantly.

The assistant strode towards them and said, "Mr.Ellerbrock here is the legal guardian of the patient lying inside who was admitted yesterday night and he would like to see him." 'I have heard this name 'Ellerbrock' somewhere. Where did I hear it from?' Victor pondered hard. Ralph noticed that Victor was spacing out and gave a nudge to make him come back to his senses. Dr.Victor quickly recollected himself and said, "I am afraid that you can't visit the patient now. The doctor in charge is busy at the moment so can you come back later?"

Mr.Ellerbrock reached the end of his patience and suddenly turned towards Victor with an icy glare and took small steps towards him. Dr.Victor thought 'Oh yeah! He is coming right towards me….I am dead… I am deaaadd. Dr.G where are you?' Mr.Ellerbrock stopped a few steps before Dr.Victor and asked Victor, "WHY? Why can't I meet my grandson?" Victor was too intimidated by Mr.Ellerbrock and couldn't reply.

"I want that doctor RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW!!! Do you understand?" Mr.Ellerbrock demanded in a deep voice which made Victor shudder uncontrollably. 'Dr.G clearly told us not to let anyone inside repeatedly. I will die in the hands of this scary man if I don't let him inside and I will die in the hands of Dr.G if I let him inside. What should I do?!! Why is Dr.G not responding to the call at a time like this? God please save me !!!' Victor cried in his mind.

"What is happening here? Don't you know this is the ICU ward?" Dr.Zane's firm voice was heard from behind them. It was not the person Victor wanted here at that moment but Dr.Zane's presence indeed brought relief to his heart. Victor moved around them right away and stood behind Dr.Zane like he found an oasis in the middle of the desert. Ralph didn't even dare to move an inch from the place from the beginning. Victor clearly told Zane what led to the commotion there. Dr.Zane gave him a reassuring look and turned to the men standing in front of him.

Dr.Zane said sternly, "The patient inside may be your grandson but now he is under the care of Dr.G." He paused and moved a bit closer to Mr.Ellerbrock and said in a steady voice, "Also, I didn't see any of you when the so-called grandson was in danger. So I would advise you to wait patiently until we can reach the doctor in charge or you can leave and drop by later." Mr.Ellerbrock didn't move an inch and replied in a lower voice while looking at the ICU door, "Yes, I was not there when my grandson was hurt but I am not leaving until I see him."

Mr.Ellerbrock was on the edge of frustration and thought. 'I am not leaving without seeing my grandson ! One day I am not in the city and this is what happens!! That doctor better rush here, otherwise I will make sure his every living moment is torturous.'

Dr.Zane knew Mr.Ellerbrock wouldn't leave so easily and urged Victor to give a call to Dr.G. The ring echoed clearly in the corridor and Victor thought she wouldn't answer but the call finally went through. Dr.G just then stepped out of Dr.Henry's room and took out the phone to call Victor but to her surprise he called her first. She happily answered the call but before she could speak, "Dr.G!!" Victor shrieked over the phone.

She could tell that Victor was anxious and wondered what it could be. "Dr.G, why didn't you answer the call? Come soon to the ICU ward." said Victor in a cracked voice. She hung up the call without replying and rushed to the ICU thinking the patient was in danger. Victor looked at the phone blankly wondering whether Dr.G heard him or not. Victor sneaked a few glances at the elderly man to study his expression and he was clearly furious.

"What did she say?" asked Dr.Zane curiously, wondering what happened to Gianna. "She hung up the call. I guess she heard me." Victor replied in a low tone so the other men couldn't hear him but Mr.Ellerbrock clearly heard him. His face reddened as he clenched his fists trying to calm himself from lashing out. 'What an arrogant doctor? How did this arrogant fool become a doctor? If something happens to my grandson I will kill him right here !!' thought Mr.Ellerbrock. Zane noticed the changes in Mr.Ellerbrock and knew he was furious. He silently hoped that everything would go smoothly.

Gianna reached ICU in a flash, but the scene was nothing like what she expected. She let out a relieved sigh seeing there was no problem with the patient. She calmly looked at the entrance where she saw a healthy looking elderly man in a green suit facing towards the door with clenched fists, 5 men in black suits standing behind guarding him, Ralph standing like a frozen statue at the other side, Victor standing behind Dr.Zane and Dr.Zane standing with his guards up. 'What is Dr.Zane doing here again? It looks like Zane knows some moves. Are these men related to that man in the ICU?' wondered Gianna as she walked briskly towards them.

"Victor" called out Dr.G. Upon hearing her soft voice everyone turned towards her, Mr.Ellerbrock saw a beautiful tall woman with sharp dark hazel eyes walking towards them. He wondered who this beautiful woman could be?. Ralph instantly warmed up hearing Dr.G's voice and finally left out a deep sigh holding onto the table near him, for support. "Dr.G !!" called out Victor, like a lost child finally found his mom. Gianna looked at him and gave an assuring smile.

He immediately reported the incident as Gianna reached his side, "Dr.G, Mr.Ellerbrock here is the grandfather of the patient who you operated on last night. He is waiting to see him." Mr.Ellerbrock looked at the pretty face in front of him with surprise and thought 'Dr.G is a woman??! She looks so young. Is she really a qualified doctor?' Gianna noticed Mr.Ellerbrock's questioning stare on her.
