Zane was humiliated again and wished the earth could open and swallow him at that instance. Zane didn't know what to reply, so he left silently with the nurse to examine his patient before being humiliated further. As soon as Dr.Zane left, Victor and Ralph stood at Gianna's side quickly because they knew they were next in her list. She continued her discussion with both of them about the upcoming surgeries. 'Well these both residents don't mind getting bossed around by Dr.Gianna as she is their senior. But what about that young man who went in? Why didn't he answer her back? He looked more daring when he confronted me but not to her. Why?' thought Mr.Ellerbrock. Mr.Ellerbrock observed Dr.Gianna keenly and was amused at how she handled everyone around her. The more he looked at her, the more she reminded him of his dear daughter.
After 20 minutes or so,Mr.Noah, the assistant came with the family register and handed it over to the nurse but Dr.Gianna and others were nowhere to be seen. Noah tensed up thinking whether Mr.Ellerbrock would get frustrated again but he looked calm as a cucumber. Noah was surprised to see him so calm in a situation like this. In the meanwhile, the nurse informed Victor about the family register being handed over to her. Gianna and Victor reached the ICU ward in no time and Gianna checked the family register just to be on the safer side. "Update both the patient's information and ask them to complete the payment." Gianna ordered clearly so that even the others in the room could hear it. Noah couldn't bear with her taunting orders anymore and asked "Dr.Gianna, you said once we provide the legal proof you would allow us to see Mr.Alexander."
Gianna looked straight at Noah's eyes with a smirk and replied, "If I recall, I clearly mentioned the word 'first' in the beginning of my sentence. After the first there is always a second and a third I assume. So, secondly, you will have to complete the payment for both the patient's treatment." Before Noah could confront her, Mr.Ellerbrock sternly asked Noah, "Don't you know payment should be done first when someone is admitted in the hospital?" Noah looked at him with amusement because it was a rare sight to see Mr.Ellerbrock agreeing with someone.
Noah immediately left the ward to finish the payments. At that instance, the emergency bell beeped in the monitor from the bed no:06 and the patient was none other than Mr.Alexander Ellerbrock. Unconsciously, the head nurse and Victor turned their heads to look at Mr.Ellerbrock and he caught their conflicted expression. He sprang from his seat and asked "Is there any problem with my grandson?" Dr.G nodded at him and rushed to check on the patient. The sound of beeping from the vital sign monitor was resounding the whole ward. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP..!!!! Mr.Ellerbrock leaned on the wall as he felt his legs go weak and started asking forgiveness to all the Gods known in the Earth to save his grandson's life in exchange of his life.
"Hurry! He is having a seizure attack, hold and keep him steady!" said Gianna in a raised voice to Victor. Turning to the nurse she said, "Bring the AED soon." "Dr.G, his heart rate is increasing. It is 103 bpm now." reported Victor. Soon the nurse returned and administered the AED which brought the patient slowly back to normal. Dr.G examined him once again and left the ward after giving the nurse some instruction. Dr.G saw Mr.Ellerbrock in an extremely pitiful state when she stepped out of the ICU ward. The man went from a dangerous man to a pitiful man in just a few minutes and this showed how much he cared for his grandson. Dr.G couldn't avoid the genuine worried look on his face and walked towards him after letting out a deep sigh.
She looked at him and said "Mr.Alexander was unconscious on arrival. After taking a set of CT scans to diagnose his condition, it was found that he was hit multiple times with a blunt object, probably a baseball bat, on the back and left region of the head leading to internal bleeding and a mild skull fracture. His spinal area between neck and upper back was also mildly injured. There was also a stab wound in his liver region. Luckily, he was brought in time or the internal bleeding would have led to severe brain damage."
Mr.Ellerbrock couldn't stand anymore and slowly sat on the chair while Dr.G continued, "The operation was successful and he is presently on sedation. He is likely to wake up within the next 24 hours. Just now he had a seizure attack due to the trauma effect but, there is nothing to worry. He needs a lot of rest and care to recover from his injury."
Dr.G paused and continued, "It would at least take 6 months, if he undergoes proper therapy. As soon as he gains his consciousness, he will feel a lot of difficulties to do his normal activities but it will be recovered with regular therapy. For his faster recovery, other than his physical therapy he also needs mental support from his closed ones. So, you have to stay strong for him first." Dr.G informed his grandson's condition so that Mr.Ellerbrock can be at ease and take proper care of himself first.
Mr.Ellerbrock continued to sit on the chair with a heavy heart and blamed himself, 'Oh.. my…. Poor Alexi !! He wouldn't have sneaked at night if I wasn't strict on him. He is injured because…..of…..me. He doesn't deserve an evil grandpa like me. If something had happened to him, the promise would have been broken…!!' "Dr.Victor, Mr.Peter, patient on bed no:08, has woken up" informed a nurse breaking the silence in the corridor and Mr.Ellerbrock's train of thoughts. Victor excused himself and immediately went in to examine the patient. Mr.Ellerbrock was happy to know Peter had woken up and he could find out what happened the previous night.
Dr.G understood that the elderly man was blaming himself by the looks on his face and said in a calm voice, "Mr.Ellerbrock," the elderly man looked at her face, hearing her call out his name in a sweet voice and she continued, "What happened has happened. No one is to blame in a situation like this. Instead of blaming or worrying, look on the brighter side, your grandson is alive and will be recovered soon. Cheer yourself up so that your grandson need not worry about you once he regains his consciousness. Okay?" Mr.Ellerbrock never imagined Dr.Gianna would have a heart to console him even after he made ruckus at the ward. He was happy to have her as the doctor in charge taking care of his grandson.
