Chapter - 62 - Misery star

Gianna lifted her head quickly and shouted, "NO. I don't want to hear. I am sure that if I hear those names then I will stop coming to the hospital."

The team laughed loudly and Alice casually said, "Dr. Jason is on the list." "What!!" exclaimed Gianna loudly. The team was startled by her sudden response. Gianna was embarrassed as she looked around and saw many passersby looking back at her. She smiled at them and looked at the team questioningly.

"Don't joke around sensitive issues," said Gianna, with a stern voice. "It's one hundred percent true. Everyone in the hospital knows except you!" said Zane. Gianna shook her head and couldn't accept what she heard just then. "Didn't you notice the hostility Dr.Jason shows to me? Do you think it's because I loiter around your department? NO. It's because of the rumor that we both are dating, and we still didn't deny the rumor," said Zane, with a smirk.

"Is this my doomsday? Why is everything happening today?" asked Gianna, still in shock. She didn't know how to face Dr.Jason from then on after knowing the truth. She trusted her team and knew they wouldn't joke around her. "Whatever it is, don't carelessly speak about these things again! I prohibit all of you from talking about these things from this moment. Do you all understand?" said Gianna, in a serious tone. They all nodded at her and finished their coffee in silence.

Zane glanced at his watch and said, "Thank you for the coffee and the eye-opening conversations. It's 5 pm, and unfortunately, I have to return to the department." Gianna smirked and said, "Eye-opening? Stop spouting nonsense and get back to work!" Zane chuckled and bid them goodbye before leaving. Gianna and the team also stood up and walked toward the elevator as it was time for their rounds.

Gianna parted from the team to drop by her office and decided to meet them at the staff station at quarter to 6 pm. Gianna freshened up in the restroom and returned to her office. Her misery star was shining brightly on her today as she stumbled upon Dr.Jason in front of her office, and she was in a dilemma in facing him. She decided to greet him professionally and get on with her work. "Good evening, Dr.Jason," said Gianna in a steady voice and walked past him.

"Dr.Gianna," called out Jason. Gianna cursed herself for greeting him first and had no choice but to turn to face him. She looked at him with no expression on her face. "Recently, we have had a lot of misunderstandings between us. Why don't we sort it out over dinner?" asked Dr. Jason. Gianna would have thought about the suggestion if it was before, but after knowing that he had a crush on her, accepting his invitation was not an option.

"I am still on duty. We can sort it out now as I also want to clear my mind as soon as possible from unnecessary things," said Gianna, in a serious tone. "Misunderstandings are supposed to be sorted out with a clear mind, and that's why I invited you for dinner. We can dine somewhere nice and sort it out like two adults." Gianna didn't like the way he was laying the words. She sensed some underlying meaning to his words and rejected his invitation for the second time.

Gianna didn't spare another moment with him and stepped inside her office to prepare to leave for the rounds. Jason was extremely angered by Gianna and went back to his office to control himself. He paced back and forth in his office and soon came up with a plan to entrap Gianna. Gianna met with the team and started her evening rounds. She checked on the patients in the recovery ward thoroughly and entered Alexander's room.

The nurse was helping Alexander to change the bandage on his head. He saw Gianna and smiled at her brightly. "I never knew Alexander looked so handsome even though he is bald!" remarked Gianna as she had a look at the stitches on his head. The nurses agreed with her as they started bandaging his head again. "No lie," said Alexander in a low voice. The room erupted in laughter. Gianna looked at him and assured him that he indeed looked handsome.

Alexander smiled shyly before lying down on his bed. She looked around the room and noticed Mr.Ellerbrock was not present. She gave a few instructions to the nurse and bid them good night. They completed the rounds, and Gianna asked the team to return to the department room first.

Gianna walked to the emergency stairs and dialed Mr.Ellerbrock's number. On the other hand, Mr.Ellerbrock was having an important meeting and was furious when he was disturbed by the phone call. He looked at the screen with narrowed eyes, but a smile appeared on his face as he saw the name. "Good evening, Dr.Gianna," said Mr.Ellerbrock, lovingly.

"I don't think it would be a good evening when one of my family members lies in the hospital all alone," said Gianna in a cold voice.

Mr.Ellerbrock felt guilty and said, "I know sorry is not enough, but I have spoken to my grandson about my situation. He understands the importance of the matters that I have to finish. I will take care of everything as soon as possible, and I will spend time with him." said Mr.Ellerbrock, with a guilty conscience.

"I thought you were genuine about bringing your grandson back to normal, but it seems it was all just a spur of the moment. I am disappointed in you, Mr.Richard Ellerbrock," said Gianna and hung up the call without waiting for his reply. Mr. Ellerbrock was stunned by Gianna's words and couldn't believe she hung up the call on him. No one has dared to hang up on him or speak with an attitude in his lifetime, but Gianna never cared. He smiled at the phone's dark screen and continued with the meeting.
