"Gianna, is everything alright?" An unsteady voice echoed through the operating room through the speakers. Gianna looked up and saw Dr.Henry standing in the observation cabin.
"Why wouldn't I be fine when the department's chief and senior attending physician are so responsible?" asked Gianna in a sarcastic tone and casually continued with the surgery. Dr.Henry, Victor, and the staff were shocked at Gianna's remark and the attending staff looked for Dr.Henry's reaction. Dr.Henry felt humiliated and left the cabin immediately. The attending staff looked at each other and got back to their duty before Gianna could notice them being distracted.
Meanwhile, Ralph completed the surgery at 8:30 am and stepped out of the operating room. He informed the status of the patient to the guardians of the patient. He walked back to the department room and saw Stanley and Alice, zoned out. "What are you guys thinking about so deeply?" asked Ralph. "Dr.Henry just arrived, and Dr.Jason's phone is still switched off. How will Dr.G manage two surgeries alone?" said Stanley with a worried expression.
"We are talking about Dr.G here! She is a goddess, so don't worry. I am here and that means she has successfully completed the first surgery." assured Ralph and looked at the time. "So she is performing another surgery now?" asked Alice. "Yes. Dr.G and Dr.Victor will probably be late, so let's start with our rounds in 10 minutes," announced Ralph and left the room to freshen up. Stanley and Alice were relieved and started to prepare for the rounds.
"The present time is 9:45 am, and it has been two hours and 15 minutes since the surgery started," announced the attending nurse. Gianna stopped the bleeding and sighed loudly. She rotated her wrists a few times as she checked the scan for any signs of bleeding or CSF leakage. As she confirmed that the bleeding had been successfully stopped, she started with the skull attachment.
"The present time is 10:50 am, and the surgery has been completed after three hours and 20 minutes," announced the attending nurse as all the staff cheered. Gianna thanked the staff and stepped out of the operating room with Victor. They met with the guardians of the patients outside the operating room. Gianna consoled the guardians and returned to the department room.
Gianna stepped in first, followed by Victor, and saw Tom and John sitting among their team. "How was the surgery, Tom?" asked Gianna. "It went well, Dr.G," said Tom and reported further details about the surgery. Gianna nodded and said, "Good. Take care of the patient from now on." Tom and John bade goodbye to the team and left the room.
Alice placed a cup of coffee in front of Gianna and Victor and congratulated them. Dr.G smiled and took a sip of coffee. "Dr.G, we completed the rounds, and the only problem with all the patients is that they didn't get to meet you."
Gianna chuckled and said, "What would they do if I get fired? Thank you for the coffee, Alice. Keep an eye on the patients. I am going to take a rest, call me if there is any emergency." Gianna left for the resting room as soon as she gave out orders. She checked her phone and saw a few missed calls from Dr.Henry and Dr.Jason but didn't bother to call them back.
"Why would she get fired?" asked Stanley, looking at Victor. Victor shook his head and said, "There might be chances!" "What are you talking about? The surgeries were successful. What else is the issue?" asked Ralph with concern. "Dr.Henry was humiliated by Dr.G in front of all the staff." They gaped at Victor and asked him to explain in detail.
"Who wouldn't be furious in that situation? How can he even think about firing her when both the seniors were absent, and Dr.G single-handedly saved two lives from a critical condition?" shouted Ralph, full of anger. The team agreed with Ralph and also voiced their frustration.
"I just told you that there might be chances because Dr.G insulted Dr.Henry before all the staff but nothing is sure of now. I also think it would be unreasonable if they fire her," said Victor tiredly. "Dr.Victor, why don't you take a rest for a while? We will look after the patients," said Ralph. Victor nodded and left the room to take a rest. Ralph sent Stanley and Alice out to check on the patients as soon as Victor left so that he could work out his plan.
When everyone left, and only Ralph was present in the room, he called a number and waited. "Hello, my sweet boy!" exclaimed an old man waving on the phone screen. "Hello, Pops! How are you?" asked Ralph in a sweet voice looking at the video call. "I am doing good. Are you taking good care of yourself? Is Gianna mistreating you?" asked the old man.
"Dr.George Miller, how can you doubt your fellow doctor as the chairman of the hospital?" asked Ralph in a disappointed tone. "Dr. Ralph Miller, are you defending Dr.Gianna Williams in front of the chairman?" asked Dr. George with a chuckle. "Pops! I have told you many times that Dr.G, is the only precious gem we have in our hospital, and we have to take care of her properly."
"Yeah, I didn't forget! What is bothering you now?" asked Dr.George. Ralph told about the incident that took place in the morning in detail. "How could they call themselves a doctor? Such irresponsible fools!" shouted Dr.George through the phone.
"Dr.Gianna seems exceptionally talented, and even I would have reprimanded my chief if I was in that situation. Don't worry. No one will fire her without my permission. Also, I can't let such a treasure out of my kingdom." Ralph smiled brightly and said, "I have a lot to learn from Dr.G. I am sure that I would be a better chairman than you if I continue to study from Dr.G."
"Why do I feel offended?" asked Dr.George. "That's because you are jealous. Hahaha." Ralph and Dr.George laughed heartily and hung up the call after exchanging a few pleasantries.
Ralph was back in his happy mood as everything was sorted out. He walked happily toward the ICU to join the others.
