Chapter - 98 - We are strangers

Gianna leaned on the couch and asked, "Did your connections take him?" Rick nodded and sat beside her. They both sat in silence, and after 10 minutes, Gianna slowly opened her eyes.

"My system is back to normal!" informed Rick, who was staring at her. "Great!" said Rick with relief and leaned against the couch comfortably. Gianna looked at him and saw his t-shirt and pants were wet. "Rick!" exclaimed Gianna and lifted his t-shirt.

She touched his bandage and noticed the bandages were also wet. "Go change your clothes. I will redress your wounds," said Gianna. "Why don't you go have dinner by the time I change my clothes?" suggested Rick. Gianna nodded and left the apartment.

"You look fresh!" said Mrs. Rogers as she invited her in. "Shall I serve dinner?" asked Mrs. Rogers. "If you don't mind, can I take it to my apartment?" asked Gianna with a smile. "Why would I mind? Eating food should be enjoyed rather than forced. Take the thermal box from the table," said Mrs. Rogers. "Where is Frank?" asked Gianna as she took the three thermal boxes from the table. "He is taking a shower." Gianna nodded and exited the apartment after bidding her goodnight.

Gianna didn't see Rick in the living room, so she entered the bedroom and heard the water running in the washroom. She left the room and waited for Rick with the medical kit on the couch. "Why are you back already?" asked Rick standing behind her.

"Did you plan to leave before I came?" asked Gianna, taking out the bandages and other requirements. Rick stood in front of her and reminded her, "Didn't I say I wouldn't leave like that hereafter?" Gianna looked up, and her mind instantly went blank.

Rick was standing with a bare chest. The wet hair exuded a sexy vibe, and there were still drops of water on his chest flowing down slowly on his glazing olive skin. The water droplets slowly landing on his sturdy eight-pack abs made her heart race.

Rick noticed her staring at his abs and said with a chuckle, "Is the antidote faulty, or do you find me attractive?" Gianna coughed loudly and averted her eyes from him. "I was looking at your cuts! Don't think highly of yourself! Why did you shower?" asked Gianna to divert the embarrassment.

"It was already wet, so I took a shower," said Rick as he sat on the couch. Gianna took another dry towel and slowly dabbed all the water from the cuts. Rick looked at her right hand and felt furious when he remembered how Jason had touched her hand. Rick clenched his fists and kept looking at her hand.

"Loosen up your body!" said Gianna in a low voice. Her voice was like a melody to his ears. He caught her right hand, looked deeply into her beautiful eyes, and asked, "Can't I just kill him?" Gianna chuckled and said, "No." "I can't take him off my mind!" said Rick, groaning lightly.

"Why do you care about him?" asked Gianna, applying the cream to the cut. "How can I not care when he touched YOU and tried to harm YOU in a disgraceful way?" asked Rick in a raised voice. Gianna's hand paused mid-air and looked at him, "I am grateful for your help, but I will handle my matters. After all, we are strangers, and you don't have to care about me!"

Rick scoffed and turned his head away from her in anger. Gianna quickly finished bandaging and said, "Let's have dinner!" Rick didn't respond and lay on the couch. "Didn't you hear me?" asked Gianna, but he still didn't respond to her. Gianna was frustrated and didn't bother him.

Gianna washed her hands and went into the study room. She locked the door and took out her laptop. She typed a few codes, and a lot of information on Jason appeared on the screen. The details looked normal, but a prescription detail caught her eye. "Aren't these antipsychotic drugs and mood stabilizers? Why is he taking it?" mumbled Gianna.

She dug deeper and found his history of psychotherapy sessions. "Is he a sociopath? No wonder I always felt something odd about him! I don't think it is safe for others if he stays in the hospital!" mumbled Gianna.

"Gianna!" called Rick from outside. Gianna looked at the door but didn't respond. "Let's have dinner, please!" Rick didn't hear any response from the room and knocked a few times but still no response. 'Did she faint?' thought Rick and started banging loudly on the door, calling out her name.

Rick was about to kick it open, but Gianna opened the door and asked, "What do you want?" "Ahhh! Why didn't you respond? I was scared for a moment!" exclaimed Rick loudly. Gianna walked towards the table and opened the thermal box to serve the food.

Both of them ate in silence, but his phone broke the awkward silence. Ring ring… "Yes," said Rick as he answered the call. "Okay. Hold on," said Rick and muted the call. "Is he laughing instead of crying out of pain?" asked Gianna casually. Rick nodded. "He is a sociopath. He won't feel pain. Tell your men to transfer him to AV hospital."

Rick conveyed the message to the men and hung up the call. "How did you know about it?" Gianna shrugged her shoulders and didn't respond. Gianna had already arranged everything with the hospital and didn't have much energy to explain it to Rick.

"I am going to sleep," informed Gianna, and walked towards the bedroom. "Good night," shouted Rick but didn't get a response from her. "She holds a strong grudge. Such a feisty woman. How can a woman stay calm and attack a sociopath? Well, she even handled Albert, who I had personally trained," mumbled Rick, looking at the closed bedroom door. Gianna felt very tired after the eventful evening and slept as soon as she hit the pillow.

Ring ring ring ring… Gianna's eyes flew open and reached for the ringing phone. Victor's name was on display, and she quickly answered the call.
