Chapter - 99 - Extraordinary!

"Dr. G! There is an emergency! We are not able to reach Dr. Jason!" exclaimed Victor. "What is the patient's condition?" asked Gianna as she got down from the bed and started to get ready. "There are four patients, Dr. G. A decompressed skull fracture, hydrocephalus, and two patients with severe hemorrhage. Dr. Zane has taken care of the emergency treatment," informed Victor.

"Call Dr. Henry, and you both take care of the hemorrhage patients. Ask Tom and John to help with the hydrocephalus patient. Tell Ralph to assist Dr. Henry, Liam to assist Tom, John to assist you, and Stanley to assist me with the skull fracture patient. Am I clear?" asked Gianna. "Yes, Dr. G!" Gianna hung up the call and entered the living room. Rick was sleeping soundly. She covered him with another blanket as the temperature was dropping and left the apartment without making a sound.

During the drive, Gianna's phone started to ring, and it was Dr. Henry. "Gianna, I have come to Hudson city for the workshop. I informed Dr. Jason to stay at the hospital, but now he is unreachable. I can't reach there at the correct time even if I start now!" panicked Dr. Henry on the phone.

It was not right to blame Dr. Henry in this situation because it was Jason's mistake! "I will handle the matter, Dr. Henry. Don't worry," said Gianna and hung up the call. She stepped on her accelerator and reached the hospital within 15 minutes.

She rushed to the operating room lobby. Ralph and Stanley were waiting for her. "Ralph prepare the patient with hemorrhage in OR 2, and Stanley prepare the patient with a skull fracture in OR 4," instructed Gianna. Gianna first went inside the OR 4 and said, "When the oxygen level depletes below 93%, inform me immediately." She went inside OR 2 and took a look at the scan. "I will start the surgery now." "The present time is 3:30 am, and the surgery has commenced," reported the attending nurse.

Gianna did wonders with her hand. She sealed the ruptured site, and the phone in the OR rang. "Dr. G, the oxygen level has depleted to 93%." informed the attending staff. "Announce the time," said Dr. G. "The current time is 4:45 am, and it has been one hour and 15 minutes since the surgery started," reported the attending nurse. "Finish up surgery," said Dr. G, and Ralph nodded confidently. Gianna thanked everyone and entered OR 4 after scrubbing again.

Gianna looked at the scan and said, "I will start the surgery now." "The present time is 4:55 am, and the surgery has commenced," reported the attending nurse. Gianna carefully uplifted the skull and sealed the CSF and blood leakage. Stanley was nervous at the beginning but remembering Dr.G's precious words, he assisted her confidently.

The surgery in ORs 1 and 3 was completed, and the residents exited the OR simultaneously. "Why are you here, Dr. Ralph?" asked Victor. "The surgery is over," said Ralph. "Dr. G is extraordinary! How did she complete before us?" asked Tom in disbelief.

Ralph chuckled and said, "She is performing another surgery in OR 4." Tom and other residents discussed how talented Dr. G was and went to meet with the respective guardians. Dr. G completed the surgery in OR 4 and said, "The surgery has been completed."

"The present time is 7 am, and the surgery has been completed after two hours and 5 minutes," reported the attending nurse. Dr. G and Stanley thanked the staff and exited the OR to meet the guardian. After relaying the condition of the patient, they entered the department room and found all the residents and Dr. Zane chatting cheerfully.

"Good morning, Dr. G!" greeted everyone in unison. Gianna chuckled and said, "Good morning! Good work with surgeries!" The residents thanked her, and Alice passed her a cup of coffee. Gianna sat on the chair and drank a sip of the coffee.

'Would he have woken up?' thought Gianna as she drank her coffee. "Dr. Jason is still not reachable. Did something happen to him?" asked Tom in a low voice. Everyone shrugged their shoulders, and looked at Dr. G. "Nothing would have happened!" smiled Gianna.

"How is your injury?" asked Zane. "Good." Gianna's phone started to vibrate, and she saw an unknown number on the phone display. She answered the call and said, "Dr. Gianna Williams speaking," "Where are you? When are you coming?" asked an attractive husky voice. Gianna nearly choked on her coffee. She suddenly stood up and left the room in a hurry. "Who called her?" asked Ralph in a suspicious tone. "It was just a string of numbers," said Alice.

"I had an emergency in the hospital. I will be there soon," said Gianna as she stepped outside the room in a low voice. "Okay. Drive safely!" said Rick in a sleepy tone and hung up the call. Gianna leaned on the wall and took deep breaths.

'His voice! I thought my heart stopped completely! How did he get my number? Why do I feel attracted to him, out of all the men around me?' thought Gianna. "What are you thinking?" asked Zane. Gianna smiled and said, "Nothing." "Dr. G, what do you want for breakfast?" asked Stanley as Gianna stepped in.

"I am going back to my apartment. You guys enjoy it! Keep a close eye on the patients. Call me if there is any emergency." Gianna immediately left, and her team looked at each other in confusion. Gianna entered Julia's room and saw her happily conversing with her mother. "Good morning, Julia!"

"Dr.G!!!" screamed Julia in joy. Her mother also greeted Dr. G with a bright smile. "How are you feeling?" asked Gianna as she checked her chart. "Can I hug you?" Gianna smiled and leaned forward to give her a tight hug. "Let's forget about that man from this moment. Recover soon and live your life without any regrets," whispered Gianna into her ears.

Julia smiled brightly and whispered, "Thank you so much, Dr. G!"
