Chapter - 107 - The Drago

In the police department, "How do I look?" asked Mason. "You look good, Lieutenant but Dr. Gianna is better looking than you," said Mike. "Shut up! We both are a match made in heaven." Mike couldn't control it and burst out laughing. "Hahaha! It is the funniest joke I have ever heard! Hahaha!" "Do you want to get demoted?" asked Mason with a glare. Mike cleared his throat and asked, "Shall I drop you at the hospital, Lieutenant?" Mason nodded and walked towards the car with a smile.

"The drug dealer slips off every time I get close to him. I hope I will be able to get a hold of him today. Is the dealer that important, Lieutenant?" Mason nodded and said, "I suspect a large network of people working in incognito mode. If we succeed in breaking one barrier, the whole network will fall to the ground. This mission might not look important now, but I assure you that we are about to save many lives!"

It was 11 am, and Mason dialed Gianna's number. "Good morning, Mason," said Gianna in a sweet voice. "Good morning, Dr. Gianna. I am near the hospital. We were supposed to meet for coffee today!" Gianna was discussing with the residents when she received the call. "Yes! Call me when you reach the hospital," said Gianna and hung up the call.

Mason was flying with joy and thought, 'Gianna should have been impressed by my ability to catch the assaulter! She might have started to have interest in me!!!'

Gianna ended the discussion soon and went to her office. She removed her coat and sat down to check the daily news. Her phone started to vibrate, and it was Mason again. "I am at the cafe. Take your time." "I will be there in 5 minutes," said Gianna as she switched off her computer. She walked towards the cafe and saw Mason sitting in a corner.

"Dr.G!" Zane came running towards her. Mason heard someone calling Gianna's name and turned to see Dr.Zane and Gianna talking to each other with smiles all over their faces. Mason was hit by jealousy and cursed Zane under his breath.

"Let's have coffee together," said Zane. "Nope. I am having coffee with the police officer who handled Julia's case. He is waiting for me. Let's meet later," said Gianna and walked towards Mason. Zane looked in the direction she pointed and saw a well-built man waiting for Gianna.

"Hey! Did you order coffee?" asked Gianna as she stood near Mason. Mason looked up at her and shook his head. "What do you like to have?" asked Mason as he pointed her toward the seat. "Ice coffee." Mason nodded and headed towards the counter. Gianna took a deep breath and looked outside the transparent glass in deep thought.

"What are you thinking so deeply?" asked Mason as he sat opposite her. "I was thinking about how fast the seasons are changing. I don't know how fast time flies, staying inside these walls." Mason looked outside and said, "In my line of work, the only wish is to get warmth from the closed walls at the end of the day as we spend most of the time outside." Gianna smiled and admired the winter sky. "I have been promoted to Lieutenant rank." Gianna looked at him in surprise and said, "Congratulations, Lieutenant Mason!"

Mason smiled sheepishly and thanked her. "Can I visit Julia later?" "Sure," said Gianna with a smile. Mason brought the order and placed it on the table. Gianna sipped her coffee and continued to chat with him when she suddenly felt uncomfortable like someone was watching her. She slowly looked around and nearly choked on her coffee when she caught an attractive pair of dark amber eyes staring right at her from behind a pillar.

"What are you looking at?" asked Mason as he was about to turn around. "Nothing. Someone resembled my patient," said Gianna with a smile and distracted him. 'I know it's him! His intimidating eyes can never get erased from my memory. Did he come to check my coffee date? Hahaha! But why am I happy?' thought Gianna as she sipped her coffee.

"Where do you stay?" asked Mason. "Bluebridge," responded Gianna casually. "Do you have a boyfriend?" Gianna unknowingly looked outside and saw Rick still standing there. "No, and I am not interested in having one."

Mason smiled and said, "It's just a matter of time to have a change in interests."

Gianna looked outside the glass and said with a beautiful smile, "Maybe." Mason was jumping inside his mind when he heard her response. "I hope I can be the reason behind that change." Gianna smiled but didn't respond to him. He pushed the cake towards her and told her to have a taste.

"This is delicious!" exclaimed Gianna and took a few more bites. Her phone vibrated, and a text message notification popped up.

"If you smile at him again, I am dragging you out of there." The message was from the contact saved as 'Annoying Jerk'.

Gianna smirked and continued to have her cake. Rick tightened his grip on the phone and muttered, "Did she just ignore my text? Why would she smile like that at everyone except me? Am I not appealing to her?"

Mason's phone started ringing, and his face turned serious as the other person on the line talked. "Let's discuss it later," said Mason and hung up the call. Gianna noticed his serious expression and asked, "Did something happen?" "I can't disclose the matter." Gianna smiled and nodded a bit disappointed.

"But I will tell you!" Gianna chuckled and said, "Your secret is safe with me!" "We found a link between the assaulter and a drug dealer. This drug sold by him seems a bit off." "What do you mean?" asked Gianna curiously. "The drug is rare in the market, and only one group of people has this type of drug in the entire world." 'Did he find the link? How much does he know about the drug?' thought Gianna and asked, "Which group?"

"The 'Drago' family of country Sweolia." Her mind exploded as she heard the name 'DRAGO'!
