Chapter - 113 - Flesh and blood

"Hack the surveillance camera of the Silver Crest hospital," said Rick. "Hospital surveillance? Why capo?" asked Ben curiously. "You won't follow the order until I explain?" "Sorry, capo!" 'Why does he sound restless? Is there a distributor in the hospital?' thought Ben as he typed on his keyboard. "Should I share it on the screen, capo?" Rick shook his head and asked him to pass the laptop. Rick searched through the footage of the fourth floor but couldn't find Gianna.

He checked the ER footage and his eyes narrowed instantly. He didn't even blink and continued to stare at the footage. 'Why is he angry? Is something wrong with the mission?' thought Ben as he studied Rick's facial expression. Rick saw Mason and Gianna heading toward a corner of the room. 'What are they talking about in the corner? I hate the way he is looking at Gianna! What should I do?' thought Rick as he clenched his jaws. 'There is something wrong with the mission! Capo will soon explode!' thought Ben and started to panic.

'Is he smiling? Am I dreaming?' Ben rubbed his eyes and looked at Rick in shock. 'That's my girl! I thought they would go on another date! Rejection is written all over his face! Hahaha!!' screamed Rick in joy in his mind. He checked on the footage and saw Gianna entering her office. Rick heaved a sigh and changed the screen before giving back the laptop. Rick took out his phone and contemplated for some time before texting Gianna. He finally sent a text and kept staring at the phone for her reply.

"Capo, the men are here!" informed Albert. Rick signaled them to enter the room. "The group and the rules are the same except for the quantity you would be carrying. You all did a great job last time, and I expect you all to do better this time. You can all move at 2 am. If there are no questions, you can leave!" "Yes, captain," shouted the men in unison and left the room. Rick immediately grabbed his phone and looked for her reply. 'Why is she not texting me? Is she ignoring me again?'

Back in the hospital, "I am not thinking of him, so why should I reply to his text? I am busy. I have no time for such crap!" She took her files and continued to read. Her phone vibrated again. Gianna swiftly grabbed the phone and opened it to see the message, but it was spam text. "I was not expecting him to message me!" She kept the phone away and tried hard to focus on the files.

Half an hour later, she peeked at the phone, but there was no message from him. "Should I reply to him?" Gianna hit her head on the table and muttered, "You fool! Why are you distracted by a stranger and a notorious man like him?? Stop thinking about him, Gianna!!" She turned back her rolling chair in exasperation and looked outside the window to admire the night sky.

Knock knock… "Come in," said Gianna, but didn't turn around. She heard the door open and close. "What is it?" asked Gianna, still facing the window. "I bought pizza for you!" Gianna froze as she recognized the voice. "Am I hallucinating now? What is happening with me?" mumbled Gianna. "Why do you sound so surprised? Were you thinking about me?" Gianna quickly turned and saw Rick sitting opposite her. Gianna stared at him without speaking anything.

Gianna suddenly caught his hand and gasped loudly. "What happened?" asked Rick in surprise. "You are real?" Gianna was mind blown and felt embarrassed. "I am here as flesh and blood. You are not hallucinating," said Rick with a mesmerizing smile as he opened the pizza box.

She quickly retreated her hands and looked down. 'I told you many times to stop thinking about him!!!! Why are you always embarrassing yourself in front of him?!!!!' screamed Gianna in her mind. "Gianna?" "Gianna!" called Rick. She looked at him in a daze.

"Have the pizza before it gets cold!" Gianna nodded and took a slice from the box. The flavors of the pizza quickly brought her back to her senses. "Oh, shoot! Why are you here?" asked Gianna, completely lost. "Why are you here? When are you leaving? Why do you care? Who are you to bother? I hate these questions! Why do you keep asking me these questions?" asked Rick, slightly agitated.

"Why can't you at least once say 'Thank you' or ask 'How are you?' 'Have you eaten?' to me?" Gianna looked at him at a loss for words and knew she was continuously harsh on him even though he had helped her in many ways.

"Even though we don't have a close relationship, I am closer than that police guy. Whatever! I don't expect you to say anything. Have the pizza before it gets cold. Bye!" Rick stood up and walked towards the door. "Wait!" Rick stopped in his tracks. "I can't finish this alone. Help me to finish it!" Rick turned around with a faint smile and asked, "Are you sure?" Gianna nodded. Rick smiled and took a slice from the box to eat. "Why didn't you reply to my text?" "That was my answer to your question!" "Hahaha! You! What should I do with you?!" exclaimed Rick in disbelief.

"I got the analysis report. Thank you," said Gianna in a low voice. "Thank you!! Did I hear that right? Did the great Gianna thank me just now? Me?!" exclaimed Rick sarcastically. Gianna scoffed and took a bite from her pizza slice. "Why didn't you have dinner till now?"

Ring ring… 'I should smash this phone first,' thought Rick. Gianna hesitated to answer the phone and subconsciously glanced at Rick. "Why aren't you answering the call?" asked Rick with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, Mason," said Gianna with a sarcastic smile as she answered the call. Rick looked at her with narrowed eyes and cursed himself.
