"I didn't know Dr. Henry is a person who would hold a grudge for so long!" whispered Dr. Kate as they stood in front of the elevator. "No way! I am such a forgiving person!" whispered Dr. Henry with a smirk. "Ohhhh! I still remember how Marcus tricked you to choose neurosurgery. Did you forgive him?" chuckled Dr. Kate under her breath. Dr. Henry cleared his throat and whispered, "I forgive him now because he dug his own grave!" Dr. Kate and Dr. Henry looked at each other and chuckled secretly.
In the Visconti base, "Capo, all the accounts are settled. Our flight is at 12:22 am, and we will have to leave the base by 11 pm to reach the airport. Should I make any other arrangements?" asked Ben. "Have you taken care of the surveillance footage?" asked Rick in a low husky voice that would send a shiver down the spine. "Yes, capo! Only Perses could recover the footage in the whole world!" said Ben with a proud smile. Rick shook his head and said, "Pray that he won't recover, or I will feed you to the wolves!" Ben couldn't breathe for a second when he heard Rick and looked at his departing figure like a wet chicken.
"My prayers with you, brother," said Albert with a chuckle. 'Will Perses recover the footage? Ha! No way! He would never be interested in such trivial issues, thought Ben and reassured himself.
"Dr. Zane, an 8-year-old child, has been reported to be physically abused, will reach within 2 minutes, and has been assumed to be unconscious for at least 4 minutes. His breathing is shallow." informed the emergency room nurse. "Prepare the equipment and be quick as five minutes have already passed," ordered Dr. Zane and went out to receive the patient.
"Reports look fine. Tell them to process the discharge the day after tomorrow," said Gianna as she handed the reports to Alice. The loud ringtone disrupted the discussion, and Victor answered the call immediately. Gianna observed his expression and understood there was an emergency. "Dr. G, it's an emergency!" Gianna nodded and told them to leave to check on the patient. After the residents left, Gianna wanted to check up on Alexi.
"G!!!" shouted Alexi with excitement. "Keep your voice down, Alexi!" said Mr. Ellerbrock, in a stern voice. Gianna smiled at Alexi and greeted Mr. Ellerbrock. "Alexi, did you have your lunch?" asked Gianna as she checked his charts. "I just had. What about you? Peter, get a lunch pack for G!" "No! I will have lunch with the team later. I just came to check on you."
"I am doing good as you are taking care of me. Don't worry!" Gianna smiled at him and looked at the scar on his head with care-filled eyes.
"It looks like my only grandchild has forgotten this old helpless grandpa!" said Mr. Ellerbrock with a tint of jealousy. "Don't be stingy, Grandpa! Don't you agree that G has put a lot of effort into bringing me back to this shape?"
Mr. Ellerbrock was stunned by his strong retaliation and chuckled before saying, "I am not disagreeing with anything, child!" Gianna chuckled at the bickering of the grandfather and grandson while a small wave of warmth surged in her heart.
Her thoughts were disturbed by the vibrations from her mobile, and it was Victor. She immediately picked up her call and listened to his anxious voice. "Dr. G, the patient needs immediate surgery!" Gianna understood they were panicking and instructed them to prepare for the surgery immediately. "There is an emergency. I will visit you later, Alexi. Take care of your health!" said Gianna and left the room after politely nodding at Mr. Ellerbrock.
"At certain times, it feels like everyone's life is in the hands of Dr. Gianna!" commented Mr. Ellerbrock as he looked at the closed door. "Of course! That is why she is known as Goddess, also known as Dr. G!" exclaimed Alexi. "What Goddess?" Mr. Ellerbrock looked at Alexi with a confused look.
Gianna quickly came to the scrubbing area and asked Victor to brief her. "The patient is an 8-year-old boy who was found unconscious for at least 15 minutes at the time of the report. His breathing was shallow, and his heartbeat had stopped for 17 seconds in the emergency room before the CPR. Upon scanning, we found a hematoma on the left side of the head." Dr. G nodded as she listened in silence.
"How was the child injured?" asked Dr. G with a frown. "The paramedics doubt it is a case of child abuse," reported Ralph. "Bas****s!" cursed Gianna under her breath, and the residents sensed her anger just by looking at her narrow eyes. "John and Stanley assist me. Rest of you stay on duty outside," ordered Gianna as she scrubbed her hands.
The team immediately responded and went to do their work. John was particularly nervous because this was his first time assisting the legendary Goddess of neurosurgery. Stanley noticed how nervous John was and said with a polite smile, "Don't worry, Dr.John. You only have to follow her orders and never put your guard down in her presence. These two tips can save you in the operation room."
