In the Visconti base, "You both leave for the airport. I will join you later." Ben and Albert nodded their heads obediently. They wanted to ask why but didn't dare to. Rick headed to his room. "You both were here!" exclaimed Derrick as he saw them. "I prepared this gift for the underboss. Can you pass it on to him?" Albert snorted and said, "Underboss? Are you kidding me? I would be thrown in the mid-flight if Capo knew I received something for underboss from you!"
"It's just a gift, Albert!" "Whatever it is, we can't, and won't." "I had to pull a lot of strings to bring this beauty." Ben looked at the beautiful oriental vase and said, "Well, the vase is authentic, but we don't receive anything from out of the family." Ben gave a cold smile and returned to the room with Albert. "How arrogant! Anyway, they will have to come to me for the next distribution!" smirked Derrick and left the room.
Mason descended from the car and went to the administration in the hospital to discuss the child. It took him half an hour to clear the proceedings, and he made a call to Gianna. "Yes, Lieutenant." The tensed muscles of Mason instantly eased listening to the melodious voice of Gianna. "Umm… I want to speak to you about the child. I am waiting near the cafe. It's urgent." Gianna responded, and Mason hung up the call with a smile. He ordered two cups of coffee and waited for Gianna.
"We will start the meeting after I come. Gather the materials for the project by then," instructed Gianna and left the room. She stepped into the elevator and looked at the time. It was 8:00 pm, and she didn't know how fast the time went. She reached the ground floor and walked straight towards the cafe. She spotted Mason and greeted him politely as she sat opposite him.
"I ordered coffee for you," said Mason as he pushed the coffee cup. "Thank you! Is there any news about the drug?" "We misunderstood the father. The father…." Mason narrated their findings, and Gianna felt pity for the father and the son. Mason drew the burnt mark found on the gang on the tissue paper and pushed it toward Gianna. Gianna looked at the tissue paper, and a glint appeared in her eyes. Mason didn't miss the expression on her face and knew that she knew something about the mark.
"This is called the beast number," said Gianna as she drew the mark correctly. Mason looked at Gianna with curiosity. She pushed the tissue paper back to him and chuckled. Mason was mesmerized by her smile and looked at the tissue paper. "So, it is not a circle with tails, but the number 6 repeated three times in a big circle." Mason couldn't believe it and looked into the beautiful hazel eyes of Gianna. They both laughed as they interlocked their sights and drank their coffee.
"The beast number is considered bad luck. If all the men in the gang have the symbol, then it should be a gang symbol," said Gianna. Mason nodded and stared at the mark before saying, "Dr. Gianna, I can't thank you enough for the help. You are surely a lucky charm for me!" Gianna smirked and didn't bother to reply. "I have a big mission, and that mission was the only important thing for the past few years, but the moment I laid my eyes on you, now there are two important missions in my life!" said Mason earnestly.
Gianna looked at his earnest eyes and knew he was telling the truth. She had never considered or thought about a partner for herself in her entire life. Gianna had never thought of romance, depending on someone, or settling with someone till today. She has not even thought about a peaceful life till today, and why would she think about a useless romance? Gianna politely smiled and said, "Lieutenant Mason, I …"
Mason interrupted and quickly said, "Whatever I said is just sorting my thoughts straight. I am not forcing you or telling you to try to understand me, but I will reach out to you one day, and I have no idea when that would be, but I will." Gianna felt a burden was waiting for her. She was sure there was no attraction towards him now and would not have in the future. She wanted to make it clear, but he was not ready to hear anything from her.
'I will just reduce our interactions in the future. What else can I do?' thought Gianna as she sipped her coffee. "The drug dealer is still hiding, and I don't know how to set a trap for him. Me and my team…" Gianna was keenly listening to Mason but was distracted by a creepy sensation like someone was staring at her intensely.
The first thought that struck her mind was the earlier appearance of Rick. She slowly turned to look toward the pillar at the entrance, but there was no one. 'Why do I sense this creepy feeling?' thought Gianna. She turned cautiously to look around at her surroundings.
She didn't notice anyone suspicious initially until she slowly looked up to the first floor.
