At the same time, "How many times should I repeat? I don't know anything!" shouted Derrick. Nora snorted and looked at him with a mocking expression. "I have an explanation for your behavior. You met with an accident and completely lost your memories, or you are waiting for someone to rescue you from here. Which one is it, Derrick?"
Derrick smirked at her words and said, "I want to contact my lawyer." "Yes, you can!" said Nora. She signaled Kevin as she left the interrogation room.
Kevin gave back Derrick's phone and left the room. Derrick heaved a huge sigh and immediately dialed Rick's number, but to his shock, he couldn't reach the number. He quickly dialed Albert's and Ben's numbers and received the same automated message. Derrick had no idea what was happening and called his lawyer to inform him to come up with a solution as soon as possible.
"What is happening? Why am I not able to reach those guys? Did they abandon me? How could they do that to me? Do they think they can make me a scapegoat? Ha! I would never take the fall alone. I will bring everyone down with me," muttered Derrick as he banged his fists with anger on the table.
"We found a list of buyers, Nora," informed Laura with a delighted look. "It was an encrypted file saved on the hard disk. Not even a beginner-level programmer will set up such a firewall. How lame! I also ran a background check on those buyers. Most of them work for clubs and pubs in the city."
Nora nodded and said, "The list is solid evidence. Let's not leak the information and hold it in the dark for now. I will somehow make those scumbags talk."
"Did you find any trace of the hackers from earlier?" Laura heaved a sigh and said, "Nope. The hacker is definitely in a higher rank than me!" Kevin was confused and asked, "What higher rank?"
Laura smiled brightly and said, "We have this hacker association that connects all the hackers from every corner of the world, and the top three hackers maintain this association. Every year, they conduct a competition, and according to the result of the competition, they assign our ranks."
"Woah! That's interesting!" exclaimed Dan. "So, which rank are you in?" asked Kevin curiously. "17th," said Laura in a nonchalant tone. The team looked at her in surprise, except for Leo. "You are ranked 17th among all the hackers in the world?" asked Dan in surprise.
Laura nodded and asked, "Why?" "What are you doing here? Why are you wasting your talent here?" asked Kevin in disbelief. "I told her the same thing! Why waste your talent here instead of earning a good amount of money so that her dear brother can take a rest," commented Leo leaning on his chair.
"Shut up! What would happen to the government if all the hackers work on the other side? How can we still maintain the system in the country? As a patriotic citizen, I am fulfilling my duties this way!" said Laura with pride. Dan and Kevin clapped their hands in admiration, and Nora gave her a thumbs-up. The team chatted and laughed their hearts out!
On the other side, the residents of the neurosurgery department were not as cheerful as the Delta team.
"I miss the old days! We are all so busy now! Ahhh!" groaned Ralph sticking his fork in the bowl. "Everything is going well, but there is no spice. It's boring!!"
Ralph is such a cheerful person who chatters and gossips around, but now-a-days he has no time for any of it. He feels life without fun is such a waste of living. Other residents agreed with Ralph and ate in silence. "At least we can be around Dr. G. I can't imagine my routine without her," said Alice.
"I fully support that statement!" said Stanley. "If we pick up the speed with the experiment and do it perfectly, we can all be back to our old schedule," said Tom with a faint smile. Other residents agreed with him as a sudden fire of motivation surged through them, but again after some time, they returned to their old mental state.
It's been days since they have had time to sit around and chat casually. The residents couldn't even drink a cup of coffee in peace. They would be either busy with the experiment or with the patients. On top of that, they also had to concentrate on their exams. In the whole hospital, there weren't any residents as busy as they were.
Even having dinner was a lucky bonus for them. They were exhausted, but their only strand of strength was their great mentor Dr. G. Even if they were exhausted, they knew deep in their hearts that they were the most blessed residents among all the residents out there.
"Yo! Why do you all look so down?!" exclaimed Dr. Zane as he stepped into the room. Zane was so shocked because he had never seen them so blue. "God! For a moment, I thought all these days I was living in a dream!" Alice smiled brightly and asked, "Did you have dinner, Dr. Zane?" Zane nodded and patted her shoulder with pity in his eyes as he saw the dark circles on her face. He noticed others were also equally exhausted.
"I understand your situation, but I still think you would be all wonderful doctors in the future with all the training you are getting from Dr. G! I wish I were a resident under her!" said Zane with a cheerful smile.
"We know that Dr. Zane. We would never complain about the training. We just miss the old days," said Victor as he stood up from his seat. Zane nodded and smiled at them. "I dropped by to see and chat with you all, but I find it hard to look at all your blue faces!"
