Mason read out the details. "Carlos Navarro, 36 years old. Wow! He was in prison for murder. Is the address given here still valid?" asked Mason. "That we will have to check," said Laura. "I will dispatch my team with yours to get hold of these agents," said Mason, still looking at the information in his hands. Nora and the team looked at each other and grinned with happiness because none of the other teams were ready to help them. They thanked Mason and went on to do their work.
"Do you want to meet Derrick?" asked Nora. "Can I?" Nora smiled and said, "Please follow me." She instructed Kevin to bring Derrick to the interrogation room. Mason sat along with Nora in the interrogation room, waiting for Derrick. "This meeting is off the records, Lieutenant." Mason nodded and smiled. After a few moments, Derrick appeared along with Kevin and sat across them.
Derrick eyed Mason and smirked at him. "What do you want to know from me?" Mason chuckled and said, "You sure are an arrogant prick. No wonder the Night King abandoned you." Derrick was stunned as Mason mentioned Night King, but from his experience for the past 30 years, he concealed his shock smoothly.
"Arrogant prick, you say. Well, life was tough, and I had no choice. By the way, who abandoned me?" Mason expected Derrick to have some reaction, but he never expected Derrick to be so good at concealing.
"If you have not heard about Night King, what about the third eye? Isn't that the drug you dealt with recently?" asked Mason. Derrick looked at Mason deeply into his eyes and thought, 'This guy is tough! Who is this idiot? Why does he know so much?' "I know only about two eyes. Are you directing a movie with all these fancy terms?" asked Derrick mockingly. Mason knew it was hard to get any information from Derrick.
"Okay. If you don't know, then I guess Carlos will know about it. I will make him speak," said Mason and stood up to leave, expecting a reaction from Derrick but no. He has mistaken Derrick.
Nora, who sat at the side, noted down mentally about the Night King, the third eye, and each minute reaction of Derrick. She looked deeply into the eyes of Derrick and knew he feared for his life. Nora concluded that the mastermind was threatening their life.
Nora signaled Kevin to take Derrick out and sat with Mason in the room. "He surely has the talent to act. The mastermind is powerful. That is why he is not revealing any information. If we question Carlos, we will surely get some intel on the mastermind." said Nora. Mason nodded and said, "I will plan the mission and let you know." Nora nodded and agreed. "Let all this be secret, and we will expose it once we have solid evidence," said Mason.
But Mason and Nora never knew it was no longer a secret because a third person was listening to their entire conversation.
All the residents were deeply involved in the experiment. Victor prepared three sets of vials for the trial experiment and followed the procedure given to the residents by Gianna. It was the last stage, and Victor did it with diligence. This stage was a simple procedure but tricky because the result would show whether the past two month's effort was fruitful.
Victor added the last drop of the chemical solution to the last vial, and his heartbeat fast as he waited for the result. THUD THUD... Gianna was deeply impressed by Victor's determination and had been observing him for the past two months. It's not that other members were not sincere, but Victor was a tad more determined.
The vials slowly started to turn pink, and Victor gasped in shock. "Dr. G! It's done! We have got the result!" exclaimed Victor with a bright smile. Gianna nodded and looked at the vials. "Good. Write down all the findings clearly and submit the report. We will go through another series of testing to confirm the result." Victor nodded and went to write down the findings.
"Dr. Victor got the result for the fourth combination. I will wait for the rest of your results to finalize the combination of the drug," announced Gianna. The residents nodded and continued with their experiment, except Victor. Victor looked at Gianna with a doubtful gaze and sat back in deep thought.
Gianna noticed his look and understood what he was thinking but didn't take the initiative to clear his doubt. 'Why are the experiment procedures easy even though it is a tough experiment to crack? Why does it feel like it was a completed experiment, and we are just doing it for practice?! Did Dr. G already find the solution?' thought Victor looking at his result. Just then, a memory crossed his mind.
A month ago, "I had prepared nine combinations as per our previous discussions. To save time, I want each of you to work on one combination. You can choose which combination you want to try," announced Gianna to the residents in the lab.
"Let's choose it by picking up a lot," suggested Ralph with a playful smile. Other residents also agreed, and each picked up a lot. They all read the number they got aloud. "I got combination four," announced Victor. After some time, Gianna came closer to Victor and said, "Make sure you follow the procedure with precision. Don't make mistakes, and you will surely get the result."
Victor was more confused after remembering what had happened. He snapped from his deep thoughts when he heard groaning noises from others. He looked around the lab and understood the other combinations failed to fetch the results.
Victor looked back at Gianna with a questioning look. Gianna gave him a mischievous smile and walked toward other residents with a calm expression.
"So, after all, it's all a play by Dr. G!" mumbled Victor with an amused smile.
