Something Sus is Going On Here... (1) - 80

"ARGGGHHHHHHHHHH!"

This time, I really didn't respond to the screaming voice, instead, I immediately ran away from the area before finding a hiding place and stopping.

'That definitely was the scream of someone dying, but isn't this just a celebration hunt?'

We were at a wedding after all, and so nobody should have been dying!

Either the organizers are doing an extremely bad job, or there's something sus going on here...

Waiting a few extra minutes, I stayed still until I was fur sure, through the use of Angel, that the area was clear.

At this point, I had already placed meeting my sister at the back of my list of priorities right now, because whatever was happening could really screw up my entire plan, making the whole situation even worse.

And so, approaching the dying man, I warily kept my hand on the hilt of my sword, ready to unsheathe it at a moments notice.

I knew that there was something wrong, this was a fact that my age old intuition had told me immediately upon hearing that scream.

And seeing the body confirmed it more or less.

A monster had somehow killed one of the guests at this party.

'Isn't the old man going to be responsible for all of this then?'

After all, again, party here. There was no way in hell that people should be dying.

'Well, "dad" is eccentric at times...'

But no, I rejected the idea almost immediately, as he would never do something like this, as it was endangering his soon to be new wife too, who was also in this forest.

'So if it's not "dad", then who else could it be?'

Yes, there was definitely a fishy smell coming from this entire situation.

'But we all have special devices on our bodies anyways, to detect how many kills we get and what our state of minds are, so he shouldn't have just let this man die.'

Kicking the body a few times to see if there were any more clues, I then continued moving, as this was something that probably didn't concern me.

You see, at this point, I was just thinking that this was an assassination that he had ordered with the hunt as a cover, wanting to call it an "unfortunate accident" afterwards.

If this was his business, then I wouldn't meddle with it unless somebody I knew got involved.

But then, just as peace had returned to my heart, more screams rang out in the night sky, all simultaneously, as droves of hunters started dying.

"Ahhhhhhh! Argh! Kyaaaaa! #&$@*&#$@&!!!"

Unintelligible screams, all of them, but they were all wails of people dying nonetheless.

But, once again, I smelled something fishy, and it was a much stronger scent this time around.

The reason why? Because the screams that had startled me had a particular flavor to them, a flavor that I definitely recognized, but one that I couldn't put my finger on for certain yet.

And so, I immediately ran towards the origin of the nearest scream.

Looking at the body that I found there, the final piece clicked into place, and I immediately knew the answer.

"Impossible..." I muttered, a little bit stunned by the entire situation.

After all, the marks on the body were ones that I definitely recognized, ones that I would know anywhere in fact.

'Somebody's using American special forces knife techniques in this world.'

And this could only mean one thing.

That I wasn't the only reincarnator.

BOOM!

Just like that, all my plans had been blown into bits!

Every single fucking piece that I had thought I had were all suddenly shown under a new light.

'The cuts were made by an amateur... They've been in this world for a lot longer than I have then.'

It was obvious that the one that had made these cuts hadn't been a professional, and so my thoughts immediately went to the fact that somebody had been training their own little soldier army.

'Or maybe a group...'

It was all speculations right now, and so I couldn't rule out any possible.

As Sherlock Holmes had once said, one must rule out every other possibility until only one path remained, only then can one be sure of the solution, no matter how absurd it may seem.

And as I hadn't been able to go through any of that process yet, it was still very premature for me to be making assumption.

But, of course, there were some assumptions that I could make.

One being that I could definitely beat whoever the big boss man was in terms of just special ops fighting techniques.

Call me arrogant, but I truly was the best in terms of any techniques. The only reason I had been kicked and hunted down was because I didn't have powers that boosted my physical abilities like the other guys had had.

In the end, I just knew that, for the moment, I had to avoid this group for as long as possible, as I definitely didn't want my identity to be exposed.

Looking up at the blood moon again, I finally did understand another thing then.

'The blood moon wasn't summoned by my father like I had originally thought.'

Yes, blood moons required a lot of things to be right before they could descend on the world, and so I had, at first, thought that my father had been the one to initiate it for the fun of the festival.

But seeing how people were dying, and nobody seemed to be jumping in to save these people, it was obvious what had happened.

An unknown group, probably headed by some other reincarnators, had infiltrated the hunt, had put up some type of barrier that could even stop my dad, and were set on killing a certain person I guessed.

And if I had to be specific, it was probably my sister, with her being the protagonist and all.

Maybe it was because I hadn't been doing my job as the antagonist, and so the world's balance had to be... well, balanced again.

Either way, a new "bad guy" had appeared, and I would definitely have to factor them into all my plans again, changing all of them drastically.

Just, I couldn't do it right now due to the extremely stressing situation that I was in, and so I immediately was on the move again.
