As Normal As Unicorns and Flying Pigs

The only thing Ian has always wanted was to not attract any attention towards himself especially inside the four walls of the high school. He would like to say that he is a normal, average werewolf trying to go through high school life, as any other, but drama always ensues.

"Can I catch a break!" Ian muttered under his breath as he leaned down to grab the books that fell from his hands. He scrunched his face while massaging his right shoulder where someone had just bumped into.

When he finally got up, he saw his best friend trying his best not to laugh out loud. "It hasn't been ten minutes since you entered the hallways and almost everyone are staring at you". Ian groaned softly noticing the stares from the people close by. He walked fast to his first class with his best friend trailing behind him, a wide smile on his face. Ian could never understand how Nathan could be so happy go lucky early in the morning while Ian wanted nothing but to sleep all day long. Ian wasn't a very shy, introverted person, but he wasn't the extroverted, loud type either. Sure he could make friends but he chooses not to since it's too loud with too many people. So he kept his best friend Nathan around. And he could be a handful sometimes. "let's go we're gonna be late" Ian says as he grabs his best friend and almost drags him to class.

The first three classes went in a blink of an eye and Ian finds himself waiting for his best friend in the cafeteria in the queue line. They had to part ways for the third class since they had different classes. Ian looks around the boisterous cafeteria, filled with high school kids laughing and talking among themselves. "Can we please have our lunch now?" Nick says with a growl to his voice, getting irritated with the waiting. Ian was always grateful for his wolf, Nickolas, who remained by his side through so many things in his life. They have spent almost 3 years together now and they have easily become best of friends. Werewolves start shifting at the age of 16 and Ian was almost 18 now.

Ian felt someone grab his shoulders before he looked around to see Nathan with his obnoxious smile. "Took you long enough, Nick almost bit off the heads of these guys infront of me" Ian rolled his eyes while staring at Nathan with a scrutinizing gaze and running his hand through his dark brown hair.

Ian was not a Greek God but he does admit to being fairly attractive with hazel brown eyes and dark brown hair. He was 6 feet tall, little taller than his weird and crazy best friend who has amazing blue eyes and curly, black hair. Ian was hardly noticed though since he likes to keep to himself without getting into trouble. His grades were something that meant a lot to him so that he could get into a good University and make his parents proud.

"I'm surprised Nick could stay this long without eating" Nathan says laughing. Needless to say Nick was a hungry wolf who needed food almost all the time. Both Nathan and Ian grab their plates of food and sit on the same spot they always do, not at the very back and not in the middle, somewhere in between. They both eat hungrily while joking among themselves and talking about the next training session held in the pack grounds.

Riverdale High School belongs to one of the most powerful packs in North America "Riverdale Pack", the alpha of the pack being Alpha Andrew Parker, both Ian and Nathan's Alpha. The pack territory was also one of the largest where all the wolves could run around freely.

The day goes by smoothly and Ian finds himself in his car on the way home with his best friend screaming the song blasting from the car on top of his lungs. "Better we find another best friend or I could do us a favor and chop off his head?". Ian chuckles at the odd suggestion made by Nick. "Sure and then we will have to find a new best friend" Ian says to his wolf sarcastically knowing how much Nick dreaded making new friends. "You know there are only 3 days left for your 18th birthday" Nathan screams over the loud music. "Meaning you'll soon be able to smell your mate." Ian sees Nathan wiggle his eyebrows smirking at him. "I swear I'm going to disown you" Ian says chuckling a little at his friend's childish behavior. He can't help but feel excited for the one thing a werewolf waits all their life. Their other half. Their mate. Ian expects his mate to be from his pack, an average wolf just like he is.

Little does he know that fate has other plans for him and his life might quite literally be changed all together on his birthday.
