Pine Trees and The Moonlight On A Lake

The whole house was lit with fairy lights and decorated beautifully. Just like Ian, Nathan lived with his parents and siblings in a separate house a little bit far away from the pack house.

Ian rang the bell and waited for a while for the door to open to reveal a half drunken best friend, eyes glazed and hair a complete mess. The party has just started and Nathan looks like he might faint any moment. Ian entered the house with his best friend clinging to his shoulders. Almost the entire high school was present in the living room, some of them dancing while the others playing beer pong.

Ian went to the kitchen to fetch some water for Nathan so to put some sense into him. The hallway was filled with drunken teenagers making out. He grabbed a bottle of ice cold water and made Nathan drink it while splashing some of it onto his face. Nathan shook his head because of the sudden splash and looked almost better than how he did seconds ago.

Ian grabbed Nathan by his shoulders annoyed by how his best friend chose to be wasted for his birthday party, and dragged him to his bedroom. As he put Nathan on his bed with him complaining about how he needed more alcohol, Ian rolled his eyes before moving to leave the room. Once he grabbed the door knob, his head started to throb like someone had just hit his head with a baseball bat. He groaned while holding his head and sat at the end of Nathan's bed. He looked over to see Nathan snoring.

He waited for the weird throbbing pain to end only for it to throb much more harder. Ian was bent down with both of his hands on his head groaning loudly. He started seeing flashes of white before seeing flashes of trees looking like a forest, seemingly the huge forest they have in their pack territory. Ian stood up deciding to take medicine for the throbbing pain, confused. He left to go to the kitchen, bumping into drunken teenagers on the way trying not to fall down. Once he reached the kitchen, he checked the cabinets and found some medicine which he immediately gulped down with a mouthful of water desperately trying to lower the headache. Once the medicine worked a little and he felt better, he decided to go out for some fresh air.

The cold air hit his face like an ice bucket and he immediately felt so much better than how he did minutes ago. At this point, Nick was almost clawing at him to be let out so he decided to go for a run. He walked towards a huge tree and changed behind it before his bones started cracking, his body bent down and he started shifting into his almost fully white, huge wolf, although he had patches of black on his four paws giving him a cute appearance if not for the fangs ready for destruction.

It was very unusual for a werewolf to be almost fully white and to be as large as Nickolas was. But since Ian didn't possess any other unusual abilities, it was over looked by their Alpha. As Nick started running towards the huge forest, he realized he could run much faster than before. He could hear and see things much far away than he did earlier. Nick started running much faster, almost a flash of light for a person seeing him run. Nick surely was confused with his enhanced abilities but he enjoyed it while he looked up to see the big full moon almost staring at him from up above. It was a beautiful night.

As he kept running, Nick looked into a distance to see a clearing. He slowed down and almost walked with his four paws hitting the ground, the only sound in the forest. It was the first time Nick saw this clearing in the forest which was a sign that he might have gone too far away, maybe near the pack border which meant that he might have ran thousands of miles but lost track of how fast he ran, because of his new found enhanced abilities.

As he entered the clearing, what he saw was mesmerizing to his eyes. The clearing was surrounded by huge pine trees and a lake in the middle. The pine trees might have been the reason why the place was hidden, Nick thought. Beautiful pink flowers adorned the place and the water from the lake shining as the moonlight hit its surface. The entire scenery looked straight from a movie, too unrealistic and almost magical to be real and Nick was flabbergasted to say the least. Nevertheless, he walked slowly towards the lake since he was parched and needed a much needed time to relax.

After drinking from the lake, Nick slowly relaxed allowing his body to stretch on the soft grass. He closed his eyes while a soft breeze touched his fur like a feather. Both Nick and Ian were confused with how things turned out tonight. First, with his best friend getting wasted and then the flashes of a forest in his mind. To top it all, he realized he had enhanced abilities. He still was disappointed since he was not able to find his mate tonight. He would have smelled her if she was present at the party. Nick felt a pang in his chest with the disappointment and sadness as he straightened his body and howled at the sky. The sound a very pained and loud cry in the peaceful night.

Almost immediately, Nick heard a rustling of leaves before he looked towards where the sound was coming from. He stood firmly and confidently baring his canines at the intruder who was going to reveal themself. He noticed a weird smell in the atmosphere too strong due to his current abilities, the smell a mixture of pine and chocolate. It got stronger as the intruder got closer.

Two blood red eyes were staring at him between the leaves before a huge red wolf made their appearance. As Nick looked at it, his eyes widened as realization dawned upon him. The wolf had golden streaks on it's large red fur giving it an almost enticing and magical look. Nick stared at the wolf as it howled at the sky loudly, as if a howling of happiness and victory.

Just as the wolf got closer to Nick as he stood frozen, his vision started to get blurry before he only saw darkness which slowly swallowed him whole.
