Lavender Fields and Sunsets

Ian's pov

What I saw right infront of me was nothing less than magical. I was seeing a huge field of lavender surrounded by the forest. The sunset gave an orange glow to the whole place which was absolutely spectacular.

Nate and I are in our human forms after the run. She sits down on the grass right before I followed suit and sat right next to her. There was a comfortable silence between us for a while, both of us enjoying the sunset and the magnificent view.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" I heard her say softly.

"Yes it is" I say as I look at her full of love and admiration. She is the most beautiful mate I could ever ask for. She blushes as she notices my gaze before realizing that the words are intended for her.

"Red, there's something I need to talk to you about." I was nervous as I decide to reveal everything right at that moment. I see her looking at me curiously as she urges me to continue.

"Sure babe. What's the matter?"

"I know this conversation is long overdue and it's been bothering me for a while now so I need to get it off of my chest. That night when we first met, it was the first time I shifted to my wolf after turning 18. I felt unexplainable changes in me that night. My wolf felt different, like we had heightened abilities. We could see, hear, and feel much better than we did before. We could zoom into a far distance and see things as well. My wolf felt stronger and much faster. That reason why I fainted was because I was exhausted after using my enhanced abilities for the first time".

I looked at her nervously, expecting an outburst for hiding it from her. Except, she listened to me intently and kept silent for a while, seemingly pondering.

"Did you tell this to anyone else?" I heard her ask in a serious tone.

"No. You're the first and only person I've shared this with"

"Good. Keep it a secret from everyone else atleast until we find answers to what's going on."

"Sure, Red". I say looking down.

She lifted my chin up with a finger and made me face her as she stared deeply into my eyes.

"I know it's confusing babe. It's confusing for me too. I've never heard of such a thing before since warewolves tend to get all their abilities after turning sixteen. We'll get through this together and somehow one way or another, we'll find answers to this." She tells me reassuringly, as I see determination in her mesmarizing green eyes.

"Red. You're the most beautiful and the strongest person I've seen in my life. We haven't known each other for long but I already feel the deep connection we share. You're the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and I need you to know that-"

I was cut short as I felt her suddenly grab my face and put her lips on mine. I was flabbergasted by her action while a deep, bright blush involuntarily invaded my cheeks. Her action turned all of my thoughts into a mush. Once I recovered from the initial shock, I kiss her back with the same passion that was given to me.

Her plump lips tasted sweet, like chocolate. I moaned into her mouth as she deepened the kiss, grabbing my face into the palm of her hands. After a few minutes, she released me from her grip and our lips parted making me immediately miss them on mine.

We were both gasping for breath while both of us blushed, our foreheads touching.

"That was.." I take a much needed breath before we both said together in sync.

"Breathtaking." We both giggle like little kids before she pecks my lips once more. We sit there silently looking at each other and observing each other's facial features.

"Tell me about yourself baby. I know we didn't get much time to get to know each other better in the last couple of days. I was so busy with pack business during the day and came home tired. I'm so sorry my love." I heard her say, guilt in her voice at the end of the last sentence.

"It's alright Red, I understand. Well, there actually is something about my family that I think you should know."

"I'm not a single child."

I looked at her for any reactions before continuing. She looked a little confused but listening intently and patiently nevertheless.

"Adeline. That was her name. She was five when it happened. I was at the pack house that night. Mom, Dad and Adeline were on their way home from a movie night when a huge truck crashed into our car three years ago."

I take a moment to compose myself as I felt tears threatening to spill. "Our family haven't been the same since then. We may look the same from the outside but I know that my parents suffer every day".

I was looking down at the grass when a stray tear fell down. I felt a warm hug filling me up as I let myself breakdown inside the loving embrace of my mate.

She whispered sweet things into my ear while I let myself cry all the tears into her shoulders. I felt safe there like I belonged in her embrace. As I calmed down after a few minutes, she releases me from her hug.

"I'm so sorry it happened babe. I hope you don't feel guilty for what happened. It's not your fault and it's not your parent's fault either. She is in a better place now" her voice was filled with sadness and empathy as she comforted me by her words.

"What about you Red? What happened to your mom and dad?" I ask curiously since I haven't seen her mom even though everyone knows that her dad is no more.

"After dad died, mom became very distant. She would lock herself in the room for several hours and a few months later, she couldn't continue here in our pack since it's filled with memories of dad. She stays at the human town in our pack, seldom comes to the pack house." I could hear that the situation bothered her a lot. She clearly needed her mom and it's disappointing that it's not possible.

While we both stayed silent for a while, both trying to digest all the information revealed when suddenly, Nate's eyes focused hard on something before they turned red, telling me that it was her wolf. She was clearly mindlinking someone.

She stood up abruptly. "Ian, you need to get to the pack house right now. Max will he here soon." She says as her eyes lose its focus again telling me that she is mindlinking. I stand up panicking before asking her "What's going on Red?"

She took a deep breath before saying something that made me shocked but also scared for my life.

"Rogues."
