Rainy funerals are always gloomy.

CHAPTER 7

It was the day of the funeral, family members we are just knowing today, friends, and acquaintances, all gathered at victor's house, the men wore black ties while the women wore black dresses, but victor was the only one wearing casual all-black clothes, black jacket, black t-shirt, black pants, black shoes, he stuck out, some of his cousins who he knew asked him why didn't he wear a black suit like the rest of us, he said: "I don't own any".

His cousins were trying to comfort him but he didn't bat an eye at any of them his focus was on something else.

Minutes later the hearse and five cars arrived at his house, everyone got into the cars and the drivers took off.

Twenty minutes later, they finally reached the funeral chapel, where they all got down and went in.

The service took 40mins and after it was done, the caskets were taken by the pallbearers by the shoulder to the cemetery.

The atmosphere was very gloomy, depressing even, with the rain adding to the heaviness the family already felt in their hearts, some very close friends of the deceased were breaking down in tears, some were busy trying to quiet their kids down, and the rest mourned quietly.

"Would anyone like to say a few words?" the priest asked.

But people were too down to come up and say anything, I wouldn't blame them either.

The burial commenced in a grassy field cemetery, as they were lowering the caskets victor just watched with cold eyes as his parents were being dropped into earth.

*A moment of silence*

*****

People started to leave one by one until it was just the siblings that remained.

"Hey victor, I'm surprised that you didn't cry during all this"Victoria said in a soft tone trying to start a conversation.

"I don't deserve to cry for them, this is all my fault."

He didn't even look at his sister while talking his eyes were fixed on the headstones.

"Hey! I told you to stop saying that, it isn't your fault, it was God's will"

"Don't give that! What do you mean by "god's will", what parent would willingly let their kids die a painful untimely death"

"We aren't the first ones to lose our parents, let's just be glad we have each other!"

"I'm glad your alive but still...why did it have to be them!..... nothing makes sense anymore, even after getting these powers I'm still just as useless as I've ever been," he said while his head was still lowered.

He received a hard slap on his face.

"I hope that woke you up from your delusions, you got those powers out of luck and nothing more, if they were to be given to the right hands, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have them now.

She walked away but turned around to say this:

"Not everything is your fault, don't try to blame yourself or your luck for things that are unrelated"

She started to feel bad and walked back

"You'll catch a cold under the rain without an umbrella, let's go inside."

"Heh don't worry I'll be there in a minute"

"Okay"

She left.

POV:Victor.

"She's gone, what do want.....Ignatius?"

I turned around to see him standing there in all black holding an umbrella.

"Keen eye, how did you know I was here?" he said while smiling.

"Your presence sticks out like a sour thumb, it's annoying" I retorted

I felt a cold knife on my neck from behind, I can already guess who it is.

"Don't even bother trying to scare me with the knife Anna, I'm over it," I said nonchalantly

"I'm not trying to scare you, one more bad-mouthing from you and your dead."

She pressed the knife to my throat a little that blood came out, so I used my time lag to escape and took all her weapons away from her.

*Time lag dispels*

"Huh?! Were's all my stuff?"

"You mean this?" I threw her knives far away so I could talk to Ignatius alone. She ran after it.

"I had a feeling you'd be looking for me, so I made myself available," he said

"By the looks of it you just got here, I'd be damned if I didn't notice your presence here before now"

"Guilty as charged," he gave a small chuckle.

"I want to join your group or whatever, I want to get stronger to protect my sister. I'm done with loss" I looked him in the eyes saying this.

"Hmm...you seem to have gotten yourself a new look, do you like black?"

He kept smiling while talking like that, as friendly as it looked, it was creeping me out.

"No, I don't, it's depressing"

"You should keep it, it suits you"

"What does this have to do with me joining?"

"Nothing at all, I just thought I'd make small talk to reduce the pain from your loss, but if you want to join, fine. But there are a few "tests" I want you to take before you join"

"Tests? This wasn't mentioned before"

"You weren't interested then"

"....."

"When can I come?"

"Right now if you want"

"Tomorrow then, I'll join tomorrow," I said hesitantly.

"Fine"

We shook hands, anna came back and they both left.

I didn't even notice that the rain had stopped, but I'm already drenched so it didn't even matter either way.

I turned around to look at the graves one last time and made a promise.

"I won't die until I find and kill the person who did you both in"
