Despair

CHAPTER 6

Two months ago after I tried to test how my powers worked in class, I didn't try it again, I abandoned a power most men would kill for, I knew it sounds like a scared little boy who doesn't like the unknown but I can't risk it, I may use the precognition now and then but I won't use the time lag unless need be and new month I'm going to focus on studies and just live the rest of my in peace.

It was the first day of the new month, a usual Monday morning in class, but the difference was that it looked like it was gonna rain, it's June after all, and this is supposedly a rainy season, coincidentally this is my birth month,15th to be specific, I can remember every time my parents were about to sing me a birthday song when I was younger it was always clouded by rain or the sound of thunder given if they remembered it of course. Heh, my luck doesn't even let me enjoy my birthdays on sunny days.

Not that I mind though, the rain, weirdly soothes me I can't explain.

....But this weather felt..... different, it felt....ominous.

Nah, it's probably all in my head, I mean what could probably happen to me, while I'm in class?

Ouch!

My precognition acted again, this time I didn't see, but heard gunshots, and I was at a funeral ground

*CRACK!!* A loud thunder echoed in the background

"AHHHH!"I screamed dramatically, not because of the thunder b

"What was that?" I spoke with tears in my eyes.

"What is the meaning of this?" the teacher said furiously at me for yelling in class.

I was breathing heavily, unable to answer him, and just kept looking down crying. What type of future is this?

Now my sister's class was on the third floor of our school, Seniors got the top floors in our school, and a few moments later, I heard gunshots this time it wasn't just me it was the whole school, it put everybody in a panic as they were all running downstairs to the assembly ground, I didn't have time to waste standing there, I ran upstairs cause my sister wasn't at the A.G.

I reached there and saw her sitting on the floor with blood coming out of her arm.

"W-wh-what h-happened?" I asked as frightened.

"Don't worry about it I wrapped a piece of clothing around her arm so she won't lose more blood."

a voice from behind me said it was anna.

"What's going on?!"

"Seems like the people who hunted you down last month didn't give up on you and now they're trying to get as many people out of the way as possible"

"That doesn't make any sense!

They should have come only after me, my sister has nothing to do with anything!" I said angrily

"Who said it was only your sister?"

"Wait, you don't mean?"

"Yes, your parents are probably dead"

My heart froze

I couldn't think.

"This has to be a lie right? This some kind of sick joke ri-right"

"No matter how much you don't want to believe, it's real"

A teacher came in and saw my sister passed out, blood-drenched on the floor, he helped us carry her to the sick bay at our school.

He was a friend of my dad's and had looked out for me a little in school throughout the years.

[Point of view: Mr.Jason, Victor's teacher]

"Lucky thing you were there anna"

"It was no problem"

Hmm, victor must be scared after seeing this, I should probably comfort him and call his parents.

"M-mr Jason" He said.

"Yes?"

"Are my mom and dad going to be alright?"

His eyes were still red from crying.

"Don't be pessimistic, it's not like you were targeted?"

"I-"

"He's just tired from all that's happened today" Anna quickly responded, cutting off victor.

[Phone rings]

"Hello? Mr. Charles?"

I heard crying over the phone, it couldn't be?

"I'm sorry but he's gone, "the person at the other end said sorrowfully.

"NO! it can't be!"

"Why did you call me first, instead of his wife?"

"Your name was on the emergency dial for school"

"...and his wife?"

"She wasn't picking up and I'm calling to check if his kids are okay"

"They are.... who are you again?"

"I'm Charles's co-worker Mr.peters"

"Okay thank you for contacting me," I said as I cut the call.

He ran up to me crying and said:

"How's my dad?!"

I don't know how to tell him...

*E-ehem*, "victor I need you to listen to me as calmly as possible....."He's gone"

Tears streamed down his eyes at the news, I couldn't comfort him, I couldn't even say everything was going to be okay, he just knelt there and wept, I knew he wasn't the luckiest but this is just cruel.

[Victoria's POV]

After the incident at school, I woke up in a hospital, it was raining heavily, and I had sustained a gunshot wound on my upper arm, it was wrapped up in a cast, and the doctor said I might not be able to use it again, but that wasn't my main concern at the moment.

My uncle visited me and told me both my parents are dead, I couldn't believe it, and even worse, I couldn't even imagine the pain my brother was going through due to this, he was always a crier and I left him all alone.

I would be discharged in 3 days but I hope my brother hasn't made any rash decisions, like going after the people who caused it.

"Uncle, where's my brother?" I said as I tried to sit up.

"He's outside waiting"

"Really?" I said with a sigh of relief that he hasn't done anything.

"Yes but he hasn't said a word to anyone since you were admitted and refused to eat anything until you woke up," he said

"I see.... can you call him in please?"

"Sure"

He walks outside my room and returns a few moments with back my brother, whose eyes were swollen probably from all the crying.

"I-i'm sorry sis," he said looking like he was about to cry again

"It's okay you didn't do anything wrong, don't be so hard on yourself"

"But it is my fault if not for me and this cursed pow-"

"Hey!" I cut him off before he confesses in front of our uncle that he had powers

"How long have I been out?"

"2 days" my uncle replied

"Hmm.... has the funeral already been done?"

"No, your brother insisted that you should be an attendant during the last rites and wouldn't take no for an answer

"Oh."

"Anyways when you are discharged tomorrow, we'll proceed with the funeral okay?

So get well soon"

"I will."

**

After they were done talking a nurse came in to tell them visiting hours is over and that they should come to get her tomorrow.

He agreed and they both left.
