Depressed

When little Eve turned up for school that day, she realized that Edgar didn't have his usual bright mood. His shoulders were slouched as he walked into the school building.

His hands held on to the straps of his backpack while his eyes were trained on the ground. He seemed to be depressed, and she noticed that his eyes were swollen as well.

This made her purse her lips into a thin line thoughtfully.

Did he cry?

No matter how much Edgar got scolded by the teachers or her father, he never appeared so downhearted. He always recovered in a matter of seconds.

She hadn't ever seen him so sad.

This got her worried because she didn't think Edgar could get this upset. After all, he treated everything in a lighthearted manner, forgetting the matters that distressed him easily..

She halted her footsteps and let him catch up to her. Edgar was the one to daily make it a competition about who could get to class soon.
