Chapter 14

I sat quietly in the car without moving any part of my body, not even my head or eyes to see what expression Aikens had on.

"Can you please step out of the car?",the lady asked in a polite and calm manner. Initially, I wanted to prove stubborn by staying in the car but the manner in which the girl spoke was charming enough to proceed with my stubbornness. I stepped out of the car and Aikens just continued staring at me as if he has seen a ghost bot some vampire since it was late.

"Aikens, we have a guest", she said to him bringing him back to the present but he just said ok which did t make sense.

"Let's go inside please", the lady said to me and when I hesitated, she held me by the wrist and dragged me in. For no reason, I was angry at the lady but she did nothing wrong to me. She led the way to the hall and I followed her while Aikens still stood there stiff.

She offered me a seat when we got to the hall and served me some water.

"May I know your name?",she asked when she sat beside me after serving me with the water.

"I'm Annie", I replied with a faint smile.

"You have a nice name… , I'm Jazzy", she replied with a smile too but hers was a genuine one not as fate as mine.

"Can I ask you a question?", I couldn't contain what was going on anymore.

"Go ahead"

"Urhm.., what relationship do you have with Aikens ", I asked curiosity filled in my eyes.

"Oh Aikens ", she paused and smiled, "Aikens is my…", before sage could finish her sentence there was a bang on the door.

"Annie we need to talk", Aikens finally decided to come in after staying out there for so long.

"Jazzy please excuse us", he requested and she just left to the kitchen. He sat quietly beside me in the couch saying nothing and it was irritating me.

"What do have to say?", I broke the long silence since he wasn't ready to speak up.

"Where have you been for the last three months?", he asked.

"Stop behaving as if you care, did you ever look for me?",

"Of course I did, I even went round showing your picture to people, where do you even think we are coming from at …."

"Enough of your lies Aikens, all I need to know now is who that lady is", I cut him off not waiting to hear whatever he had to say.

"You mean …Jazzy?"

"Who else is in this house apart from her?"

"Can you just calm down…, we'll she's my….",

"Food is ready", she interrupted. This was really getting on my nerves. I first questioned Jazzy and before she could answer, Aikens banged the door and now this.

"Okay, we will be there in a while", Aikens said to her and she just left to continue whatever she was doing.

"May we?", he asked.

"You are not done answering my question "

"I'd do that after the meal", he said and led the way to the dining table. He waited for me to sit as he always did while I walked hesitantly to the table.

"Jazzy please come and join us",he called her out of the kitchen. I was getting more angry at the sight of both of them but I didn't know why. Aikens wasn't my boyfriend so I couldn't fathom what was going on with me.

She sat just beside Aikens and opposite me which made my heart boil. She served the food and they began to dig their forks in. I just sat still not touching my cutlery.

"Ain't you going to eat or don't you like it?", he said and I just faked a smile and took my fork.

"Do you need something ", Jazzy asked concerned.

"Oh no, I'm okay just feeling tired", I replied.

"I think you should have some rest", he suggested. I just took in some water and stood up from my seat.

"Where are you going?", Jazzy questioned.

"Back to my place"

"You don't have to leave , it's too late. You can stay with us for a while"

"I can handle anything , besides I don't want to be a disturbance to both of you", I said rolling my eyes at Aikens trying to reject her offer.

"Not at all, it's fine with us", she persisted and walked me to one of the rooms.
