Power and control.

"I wish to unlock the powers inside of me."

The words I uttered so quickly. If only I was more patient. I should have thought it through. A one-time wish and I wished this. It seemed right at that moment. I thought I was ready. Thought I was prepared. I just– really wanted to save him– The one I love.

Before my eyes, everything returned to how it was. I felt normal, nothing seemed to have changed in me. Didn't know if to be disappointed but it all made me feel like a fool.

I opened my eyes. It had been a dream. I knew it had to be. Chris at this time doesn't even give a shit about me but his leggy girlfriend who tried to murder him.

I slipped out of bed tiredly. My eyes fell on the alarm clock on my bedside table. It was midnight.

Scratching my eyes, I went into my bathroom. Took a piss and washed my hands. Once I was done, I turned the knob of the bathroom door to exit it and as I did, I found him sitting up on the bed. The hospital bed.

"I can't believe it. It's a miracle." He said, smiling so brightly, his dimples popped brightening up his face.

I couldn't comprehend the scenario. I looked around trying to figure out how I had left my room to his hospital room. Or wasn't it all a dream I had?

Slowly, my feet carried me closer to him.

"You're okay?" I asked doubtfully.

"Of course. I am.." He responded in glee.

I could now see he looked better all of a sudden. He had taken off all the stuff placed on his body for sustenance.

"No–pain?" I inquired.

"None at all!"

He was excited. He got up on his feet and turned towards me. I could see his wounds had healed up, there wasn't a trace he was ever involved in an accident.

But how? Remembering the dream correctly, I had only wished to have my powers become active, I hadn't wished for him to be healed yet.

––

"All that matters is, he is perfectly fine now. Even the doctor is in shock. They believe in miracles now."  Claire said excitedly with her hands on my knee.

I was in her place and was sitting beside her. Couldn't help but wonder if truly her friendship was real. I guess she read my mind.

"Hey…I'm sorry for the other day." She began. "I just was hurt, I mean he's my brother, my only sibling. I was almost losing him and you could do something about it but didn't want to." She added.

"And you thought it best to ghost me," I said,

"I was hurt." She told me.

"Hurt," I said and then gave a brief smirk. "With all that's been going on, you are the one hurt?" I asked her. She seemed to have gotten the message and now buried her face in shame.

"At a point in my life where I was almost losing my mind, you chose to add to my problems. Blaming me for what happened to your brother and then getting the f" ck out the door without looking back. For Christ's sake Claire, you are supposed to be my best friend!" I vented.

"I am." She said softly.

"Are you?" I attacked her words.

Silence,

"He's my brother." She said,

"And he is my lover!" I told her.

"I'm sorry." She said,

"I'm not upset. He is fine now, that's all that matters." I told her, leaning my back on the couch.

"But it doesn't make sense," I added. My face showed I was bothered.

"What doesn't?" She asked me.

"How did it happen though? I didn't need to do anything for him to be healed." I responded in a speculating manner.

"Oh not this again, Annie, it doesn't matter." She told me.

"How can it not?" I asked her, standing up uneasy.

"Perhaps you didn't need to do anything. You just had to badly want it and then it happens." She told me.

Her words were relieving. I liked the sound of them. If what she says is true then I am so loving these powers already. My thoughts precisely.

I stared at her for a while.

"What?" She asked me. I gave no response, only kept up with the eye contact.

"What?" She asked again.

I began squinting my brows.

"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?" I asked her.

"No way. You wouldn't dare.." She said, understanding my language.

"You know I would," I said with a smirk.

Not quite long, big wraps of cash kept appearing in her living room. Soon after, it was priceless jewellery.

"F*ck–me,"  Claire said, having gotten up to feel some bundles.

"Did you just f*ckn rob a bank with your mind?" She whispered in shock.

"Well I had to test your theory and relax, they would never know how the money got missing. " I assured her.

She shook her head from side to side and then fixed her eyes on me.

"How did you get out of there?' She asked me.

"Called the doctor and used my pendant afterwards," I replied to her.

"But you know he would be searching for you now." She told me.

"Do you think he recognises me now?" I asked her.

"I think so. Whatever you unconsciously did changed things to just how you would have them." She told me.

"You mean, my Chris is back?" I asked excitedly.

"Yes, I mean that." She said,

"But doesn't that interfere with the order of things? This is Chris from the past kinda, he isn't supposed to love me yet." I said,

"You are right but you have the power to do and undo. You shouldn't think twice about anything." She said to me,

Well, she was right.

"We should go see him then. Need to settle some scores with some slim b*tch." I said, rushing up and towards the door.

The room began spinning. The door became so far from my reach. I felt both my hands holding onto my head and could hear Claire calling out to me and the voice of another woman echoing through my mind. I recognized it.

"Mom?" I called out in my drowsy state.

I felt hands on me, and soon my back rested on a soft surface.

My eyes shut.
