CHAPTER 39
"Come with me," Xavier instructed and turned on his heels, with his shoes grazing the grass underneath his feet.
Not questioning his order, Sky nodded and did as she was told.
Together, both of them made their way back to the Aisle but no sooner had their walk begun, Xavier snapped his fingers and immediately they disappeared.
When they reappeared, Sky was shocked to see them standing inside the palace in front of a long hallway.
"Here we are," he announced, taking the first step forward.
Once more, she refrained from saying anything to him and followed him slowly.
Soon enough they arrived towards the last two rooms in that hallway and stopped in front of the second door.
Ever since they first appeared here, Sky sensed a barrier around that particular place.
She had been in the Aisle for a few days already and knew of the barrier surrounding the place, but since, not once did she sense another.
It wasn't like any normal barrier she had passed and she knew had he not come with her, she may not have been granted access to it easily.
Immediately several thoughts ran through her mind as to what was kept locked in this place that made him do such.
Watching from the side, Sky saw him lift his hand and gave gentle knocks on the door at first. Soon enough those knocks turned into harsh heavy ones.
And when it became worse, he spread his fingers on the door and pushed it open with his power before walking in.
With everything happening, Sky felt her heart pound hard against her chest as she dared herself to take a step into the brightly lit room.
"Enter."
His deep voice made her gasp, pulling her from her train of thoughts as she gave a slight nod and obeyed.
Stepping into the room, the sight she had least expected to see greeted her, staring at her right in the face.
Laying on the bed so calmly was a friend she had once held close to her: Raven, the daughter of the strongest Dragon Warlock.
Instantly Sky's lips and jaw fell, ignoring who was watching her. Several questions ran through her mind instantly.
How and why was the daughter of Lord drake lying on a bed in King Xavier's palace?
"Raven?"
His brows drew together while assessing her from the corners of his eyes.
He had not mentioned who it was and judging from her explanation before, he had thought she may not know who Raven was.
But that was his misguided calculation. While one was the daughter and heiress of the chief Dragon family, the other was the only daughter of the king's advisor and dragon warlock.
There was no way they would not know each other. Suddenly, he heard the tone in which she called out the little troublemaker with change, forcing him to whip his head in her direction.
Just as he had presumed, something was wrong.
They noticed Raven shake her head as her eyes moved about in her closed eyelids.
Something was fishy he could tell, but more importantly, he was concerned by the image he saw before him.
Immediately a familiar sight flashed before his eyes as the feeling of déjà vu encompassed his person.
"Raven. Raven. Raven, wake up," Sky called out frantically.
"Raven!"
Suddenly her eyes shot open, with bright lights filling her vision instantly. Her breathing came in slow heavy bursts while her brain tried to fathom where she was.
Moving her eyes around was something she had not intended on doing currently. Even so, with all she had just witnessed, Raven could not tell what was true or fake anymore.
For all she knew, this might be another void she was thrown into.
"Raven?"
A throbbing headache invaded her head instantly as she tilted her head to the sound of the voice.
"Aah…" Placing a hand over her head, she forced her eyes to her side.
The moment she took in the sight of him and the person she had only thought of before drifting to sleep, her eyes flared in response.
She rose from the bed into a sitting position and took a closer look at the duo.
"Raven?" She heard him call out to her again.
Prior, he rarely used her name. To the point, she wondered if he knew it actually. Or was it that she was mistaken and he never used the name?
Shaking her head, she rid her mind of such thoughts and focused on the main problem now.
Once more she had something distracting her and did not notice his coming in.
'There is no way he must have appeared here like he did last time, right?' Raven asked inwardly.
'Now he has Sky with him. Just what could this visit mean?' She pondered.
With the hostility in her eyes and the way they darted from his person to Sky, Xavier could swear he knew what she was thinking about.
Binging his hands underneath his arm, he let his head tilt to the side a bit before helping her poor brain out. "I know what you must be thinking about."
She moved her gaze over to him, taking time to study his face from a close angle. "You do? Congratulations then."
"Hahaha, try as you may, Raven, it does not change the fact that your curious state is eating you up now. Anyways, I would help you out. Where did you think the knocking sounds you heard came from?"
She was just about to attack him with words when his words struck home.
How had she not thought about that and let her mind wander aimlessly? Obviously, that was the knock invading her dream.
Thankfully, he got no hint whatsoever concerning it.
But at the same time, she did not know if she should be thankful for such a thing, considering she never got to see the face of the lady till the end.
"Hmm, I am not thinking anything."
"Liar," Xavier retorted.
"And what is it to you if I think or not?"
"Nothing. Just do not lie about it."
"Bravo, where is your trophy?" Raven snickered at him.
"You never learn. Anyways, since I won't always have your time, I brought you a playmate. I bet your viper tongue and hers are twins. She would keep you company."
Mentioning her, Raven finally allowed her eyes to centre on Sky and give her the stinky glare she gave him.
"Meet your caretaker, Skylar Pendragon."
"What!" Both ladies chorused in unison, their eyes glaring at him.
"No!"
"Your Majesty. That was not our deal."
"It wasn't?"
