He Won

CHAPTER 40

"That was not our deal," Sky said through gritted teeth with her brows knitting at him.

"It wasn't?" Xavier asked with his mouth curved upwards in a triumphant smile. "I see."

**Flashback**

The smell of the cool breeze coming from the ocean not too far from the Aisle swept past Xavier's hair. He breathed in, inhaling all the richness the water had and feeling every saltiness thereof.

Something about the manner in which the flowers and grass danced to an even better tone as the wind blew by, made Xavier's mind all the more relaxed.

Since his awakening, this was the first time he had come close to this area.

Letting his half-closed eyes glance around, Xavier tucked the loose strand of hair fluttering in front of his face.

Taking in another deep breath, Xavier calmed his mind. As much as he had not come here, did not mean his mind did not wander to the memories shared in this particular place.

And for that, he needed to clear his mind lest they wandered back to the worst day of his entire life.

'Deep breaths, Xavier. Find peace, Saphira would want that.' He chanted in his mind.

Suddenly, his breathing went still as his mind became clear. Doing this his senses became heightened once more as they had all distractions taken out.

But no sooner had he done that than he felt something around, coming towards his direction.

His eyes squinted at the vast ocean and made no means to do anything while his hands remained clasped behind him.

'One. Two… Four. Seven… Ten.'

GBISH!

Instantly, his left hand went up to block the attack as another pair of legs landed on his hand.

Taking a turn, his attacker struck with the second leg in his free hand.

'Open.' The intruder noted in their mind and did the same thing, before striking with the hand.

Every attack sent, had Xavier parrying them with ease while maintaining his calm front as his gaze remained ahead.

'Damn him. I would land a deathly kick this time imbibing my full force in it.' His attacker calculated internally.

With that, the attack pursued once more lifting the left leg for the next strike.

Just when his attacker was about to land the kick, both legs swapped swiftly, forcing the intruder to turn in mid-air as the right leg came crashing in force.

All this while the face and body of the person remained invisible while each attack landed on Xavier's neck.

Even so, before it could make a mark with his body, Xavier moved his fist to block the attack in time.

Not taking the ambush lightly, he turned his palm facing outward and swiftly grabbed at the leg before it got any chance of escape.

Imbibing a bit of force in his hand, he pulled the leg forward and slammed the body on the ground in front of him.

BOOM!

A heavy sound erupted from that one throw as the sound of a helpless female in pain resounded around him.

Ignoring the cries he took a step forward as the invincibility magic wore off, revealing the daring female who had attacked him.

"You lost. Make one move to get up and I would be crushing you or burning you, whichever one you prefer, Skylar."

At the same time, she lifted her head just to see two big problems hovering above her.

While one was a huge ball of flames, the size of a boulder, the other was an earthen boulder with spikes protruding on every surface.

"So, choose your death wisely," Xavier snickered as he took a step closer to her.

Darting her eyes from the two death choices, she narrowed her gaze at Xavier before lifting both hands up in defeat.

Fighting him was useless. Not like this though. She had hidden but he still sensed her and blocked all of her attacks effortlessly.

To make matters worse, he had barely used any of his strength just now when he threw her over his head.

And even standing before her, he placed both hands in his pocket with no sign of controlling any attack. Still, she had two dangerous attacks hovering above her.

She did not need him to state it. She saw her defeat right before her eyes.

"How did you know I was the one?" She inquired, considering she did well to dress the part of an assassin.

The person before him, had her face covered, leaving her eyes open while her hair had its colour changed.

"Illusion magic. You think I would not know?" He tsked at her.

"Well, I did try," Sky shrugged.

"You carry the scent of the divine tree with you and then your aura, no matter the stealth mode, I can always detect someone's aura. Everyone has their unique aura and except I do not know you, that is when I wouldn't be able to tell."

"Sigh. I guess the divine tree was my biggest giveaway," Sky announced sluggishly.

He shrugged at her statement but did not refute it. Simply put, that was the truth.

For those in contact with the divine tree often and eating her fruits, they had a distinctly remarkable scent that spread far and wide.

"Fine."

Letting a smile relax, Xavier blinked slowly. The moment his lashes came back up, the boulders hovering above her disappeared completely, leaving her completely speechless.

"Get up. Since you lost the duel, you owe me."

"What? Since when were we duelling and even have a bet on it?"

"Since you stupidly interrupted my peace and snuck a train of attack on me."

Just seeing how shameless he could be, Sky felt like face-palming herself but refrained from doing so and clamped her lips shut in defeat.

In the end, she was the one who put herself in such a situation in the first place.

"Okay, what do you want from me? If it is something I can do, I would but if not, I would have to decline and you cannot force me."

"Oh, it is something you very much can do, trust me. Besides, am I your king or not? Do not forget, you pledged your allegiance to me, days back."

"I…" Shutting her mouth, Sky breathed out sharply.

Once more, she dug her own pit before him.

Left with no countering words, she rose to her feet and bowed her head. "At your service. How may I be of help, your majesty?"

His smile broadened, including his dimple as his eyes held a glint of mischief and humour in them.

Without being told, she knew that whatever task he had for her was not going to be simple and definitely not one she would love.

Either this was payback for her way of speaking to him, or this was simply a test.

**Flashback Ends**

Xavier's mouth curved upwards in a triumphant smile. He had figured out the perfect way to deal with the two witches that troubled his life currently.

What better means than to put them together?

And from the glare he was getting from Sky, it was without a doubt that she had least expected this from him.

In the end, he won double time. Next time he knew she would think twice before acting rashly or speaking abrasively before him.

Both of them in fact and should they conspire against him, he would lock them both while cooking up ways to straighten them out.
