Laboratory

Mary looked away from her brother's document and continued to walk.

I need to get my brother out of here. He must be here somewhere.

She moved her flashlight around the place and saw a wooden cupboard. She approached it and it had a sliding glass door. Inside there were plenty of glass jars.

She stood closer to the glass door and narrowed her eyes to get a better view of the things inside those jars. She moved the flashlight closer and looked at the jar in front of her.

There were two round things inside of it. She tried to focus her vision on it but she couldn't see it clearly. She decided to take out the jar.

Mary opened the sliding door. The jar was full of water so it was hard to take it out. She put her flashlight on the table next to the cupboard and took it out with both her hands. She put it on the table and took her flashlight in her hand.

She saw the things inside the glass jar and fell to the floor, screaming. She dropped her flashlight and pushed herself back with horror-filled eyes. She knocked on the table filled with information about all the missing kids. Some papers fell on the floor next to her. She could feel her whole body trembling in fear.

"Why..." she said in a trembling voice."Why does this place have eyeballs? Are there other body parts too?"

Mary covered her mouth with her palm. Just thinking about it makes me want to vomit. She used both her hands to cover her mouth as she tried to resist vomiting on the floor.

She was panting breathlessly. She looked up and looked at her flashlight. The lights were still on. It was on the table, next to the jar. She didn't dare to get it but she have to.

She put her knees on her chest and buried her face into her knees.

Remember what you're here for! I came here for my brother. I shouldn't let those lab things scare me. I should be brave for my brother.

Now, she stood up. Mary's legs were still trembling but she tried to stand on both her feet for her brother. She slowly wobble back to the table and grabbed the flashlight as quickly as she could.

She sat on the floor in relief. I got it. She thought to herself happily.

She looked up at the glass jar and turned to look at the other jars.

It's best if I don't touch the others. She thought and walked away.

She walked while flashing the flashlight around. Suddenly, she heard the sound of glass shattered.

She flinched and turned her whole body in the direction where the sound came from. The flashlight on her hand, let her see shredded glasses and what seemed like black liquid on the floor.

She let out a sigh of relief and walked toward it. She squatted down and used her finger to touch the liquid. She moved her finger to her nose and sniffed it.

"Ugh! It smells horrible!"She moved her finger away from her nose as she said that."But it smells familiar like...THE SMELL OF BLOOD!"

Without hesitation, she wiped her finger on her clothes."I shouldn't have sniffed that."Her face looked sick and disgusted.

She looked away from the liquid and something on her left caught her attention. She used her flashlight to look into the darkness and saw a cage.

There seemed to be someone inside it. She walked closer and closer to the cage. She was now standing in front of it. Her eyes widened and her hands trembled. Then, she said in a shaky voice.

"Brother?"
