Strange

Mary opened her eyes and sat straight, rubbing her eyes.

Did I fall asleep? I didn't even know...Ouch!It hurts!

She rubbed her shoulder and looked down at her ankle. She sighed.

It still hurts so much!

She looked up and tilted her head sideways.

There's something off like something is missing and...Isn't the medical bed broken? Why does it seem completely fine like nothing happened? I remember it was broken in half but how is it-

The door opened interrupting Mary's thoughts. Mary turned and saw Lucius slithering into the room. He was carrying some papers and a tray of food.

He looked up and noticed Mary was awake. He beamed at Mary and pointed at her. Then, he pointed at his mouth. She looked at him, confused and she touched her mouth.

She felt her saliva drooling out of her mouth. She quickly wiped her saliva with her sleeves. Her face reddened as she wiped it.

I was drooling. Ahhh...That's so embarrassing. Stop looking at me. Please!

Then, she heard a hiss. She looked up and saw Lucius standing in front of her, holding a tray of food.

Mary took a plate of food from the tray and said "Thanks!"

She ate her food silently while looking around the room. She remembered something when her eyes landed on the medical bed.

As she was about to say it, she choked on her food. Lucius's eyes were sharp and turned round again like he was shocked for a second.

He slithered toward Mary, holding a glass of water. Mary took it and drank it.

She coughed for some time and asked.

"Isn't the bed broken yesterday?"

He looked at Mary, confused.

Mary raised her hand and indicated it at the bed.

"That bed over there."

He turned to the bed and nodded.

He took a piece of paper and wrote. It's normal here.

"How is it normal!?"Mary shouted.

He smiled at her and wrote. Every time, a thing broke. It will be fine the next morning.

Silence filled the room while Mary continued eating her food, shocked. She was speechless, she didn't know what to say.

It's normal here? How is it normal though? I never heard of this before.

Mary took a bowl of soup that Lucius brought and drank it.

I remember before we went up the stairs, there were a lot of holes in the wooden floor... I need to go see if it is healed like now.

There was little soup in her bowl now. She drank all of it in one gulp and slammed it on the tray. Lucius jumped and looked at her, startled.

"I want to go to the entrance." Mary said while looking at him.

He was stunned for half a second and shook his head as he wrote something on a piece of paper.

"Why no?" Mary asked, disappointed.

He took the paper up and faced the letters at her. You're wounded, you shouldn't think about going upstairs until you're healed.

Mary stared at him and said.

"You misunderstood, Lucius. I want to go there to see if the holes are repaired."

He nodded with understanding and wrote. Sorry!

"It's alright. Let's go!"

Mary stood up, unbalanced. She couldn't stand straight cause her ankle was in pain.

As she was about to take her first step, she slipped. But Lucius managed to grab hold of her arms before she hit the floor. He hissed at Mary like he was saying "Be careful!"

He held Mary up with his arms like she was a princess. Mary flushed and pushed him away. But Lucius didn't care.

He looked left and right and gazed at the pile of paper. He slithered towards it, wondering how to hold both of them.

Suddenly, Mary felt a push on her back and her whole body was thrown on his shoulder. Mary could feel her face become redder than ever, burned up in embarrassment.

She used her hands to hit him and her uninjured foot to kick him.

She yelled."Let go of me! I don't need your help! Hey! Listen to me for once!"

He ignored Mary and bent down to seize a few papers. Then, he carried Mary and those papers out of the room.
