Mary sat on Lucius's tail, leaning her back against the tip of his tail. She looked at him, drawing random realistic illustrations on the easel's drawing board.
Suddenly, Lucius stopped and stared at her. He hissed at her, catching her attention on him. Mary turned her view to him and Lucius wrote something on the drawing board corner.
He wrote. Do you want to draw?
"No, thank you."Mary replied while shaking her hand, refusing his offer.
Isn't it boring? Seeing me draw while you do nothing?
"Nah, I'm fine."
Lucius pouted one side of his cheek, showing that he wanted Mary to join him.
Eh? He can do that? Mary thought. That's kind of cute, honestly. Wait! What am I thinking!? Quit thinking of random things!
Mary continued to stare at him with a calm face.
"Ah...right!I want to find some clothes!"Mary suddenly remembered.
Lucius looked at her with a confused expression and wrote. Aren't you still wearing your clothes?
"Hey! Don't forget that I ripped some of my cloth to help cover your wounds!"
Lucius rubbed the back of his neck, awkwardly and gave a soft hiss while avoiding her eyes like he was guilty.
"So? Are we going to help me get some new clothes or what?"
Lucius stared at her silently and slowly nodded.
"Yes!Finally! Some new clothes after so long!" Mary raised her voice, excitedly. While Lucius flinched, shocked.
He used his hands to cover his ears and hissed at Mary, warningly.
Mary looked at him, stunned and noticed him covering his ears.
"Oh, sorry! I forgot you have animal ears.-"Mary said while looking away from him and suddenly turned back at him, amazed." Wait! Are they that sensitive, like normal animal ears?"
Lucius nodded.
Mary couldn't resist her curiosity. She flung herself onto him and grabbed his ears, gently.
Mary rubbed her thumb on his ears. It was soft and fluffy like a normal dog's ears.
At first, Lucius tried to push her away with his hands without hurting her but it wasn't working. So, he ended up grabbing the side of Mary's shoulder.
Mary snapped out of it and noticed their face was a few inches away from one another. She could feel her face slowly, burning up from embarrassment.
She immediately dashed away from the scene and to the corner of the room. She stood there, face blushing intensely while looking down.
What am I doing!? Mary thought. You idiot! I shouldn't have done that! It's so awkward right now!... What does he look like right now after what I did?
Mary peeked at him from the corner of her eye and saw that he was blushing too. He touched his ears, looking away from Mary's direction and to the easel.
He's embarrassed too! I guess we're equal now. Let's try breaking the atmosphere.
Mary covered half of her face with her palm, still embarrassed, but forced herself to speak.
"Umm...Let's go find me some new clothes?"
Lucius looked at her and instantly looked away. Then, nodded.
He slowly got up from his tail and took his notebook and pen with him. Then, he slithered next to Mary and opened the door for her. Mary walked out of the door while he followed behind her.
Lucius closed the door and both of them walked down the corridor, silently. Suddenly, Lucius stopped and stared at a door a few steps away from the room they came out from.
Did he sense something? Mary thought while staring at him, looking at the door, menacingly.
"Is everything alright?"Mary asked, worriedly.
He looked at Mary, smiling while shaking his head. Then, stared back menacingly at the door.
Definitely, something is wrong behind those doors. Are there... maybe experiments in there...
Mary shook her head.
Let's not think about it! Hmm...That door seems fine.
Mary indicated her finger to a red wooden door and nudged Lucius. He flinched and glanced at Mary, rubbing the side of his stomach.
"What? It's not like I poke your stomach or anything."Mary said, confused.
Lucius looked at her in the eyes while crossing his hands on his chest, doubtfully.
"Or...that's what I thought..."Mary whispered under her breath while peeking at Lucius.
He's really tall and huge. Did I just nudge his stomach instead of his shoulder? I should have expected that.
Mary continued to speak as if nothing had happened.
"As I was saying, Let's go there."
