Mary stood there, stunned by the sudden attack. When she realised what had happened, it was too late, they were gone.
Mary looked up and shouted.
"Lucius!Lucius!Where are you? Are you safe? Lucius!"
But no matter how much she yelled, there was no reply. Mary felt her heart pounding loudly in her chest. She was panicking, not knowing what to do.
What should I do? What should I do? Should I run to the second floor? I guess that will do. Please let Lucius be safe!
Mary looked to the corridor and ran in the direction leading to the staircase. She rushed through the familiar hallway and to the stairs.
As she was about to dash up the stairs, a male voice came from behind her.
"Why the rush, Milady?"The voice said in a gentlemanly tune.
Mary clicked her tongue and turned her body in the direction of the voice. There was a man(black and white mixture of hair, his eyes were full black-he didn't have sclera nor iris and his body seemed pretty built).
The man smiled at her, approaching her.
Mary slowly walked backward as the man came closer to her.
"Stay where you are! Don't come close to me!"She shouted at the man, warningly."I have a knife and I'm not afraid of using it!"
"Do you know, Milady? I have been following you for a while now."The man said in a low and dangerous voice."But I wasn't able to get close to you because of that damn snake."
"Don't call Lucius like that!"
"Oh...it seems like you got pretty close with that snake. Ain't you afraid he will eat you?"
"He won't do that! He's not a human-eating creature like all of you, experiments!"
"How are you so sure? Can you confirm it?"
Mary stood there, silently, not knowing how to answer him.
He let out a slight chuckle and said.
"Just as I expected. You're not sure either, are you?"
Mary continued to stare at the man, annoyed. She reached her hand into her pocket, taking her knife. But for some reason, her knife wasn't there. She started to panic but she still managed to keep a straight face while staring at the man.
She placed both her hands into her pockets, searching for it. She tried to search for it without him noticing.
Where is it? Where is it? I remember I didn't take it out before. Where is-... Wait, don't tell me. I left it inside my old clothes! Damn It! What should I do now? I'm so dead if this man decides to suddenly dash at me.
The man stopped and looked at her, still smiling.
"What? I thought you said you have a knife. Where is it? Hmm?"The man said, noticing her anxious movement."Do you perhaps lose it?"The man asked, his smile becoming wider.
"Shut up!" Mary yelled, feeling extremely troubled."I have it! It's just that I don't want to bring it out!"
"Oh, really?" He said in a taunting tone."I think you should take it out. You don't know what I will do to you if you're unarmed."
"Why should I-"
As she was halfway through her words, the man plucked a strand of his hair and threw it on Mary's neck. It stabbed into her neck like a sharp needle.
Mary felt her body was heavy, her head was spinning and her vision was blurring. She was swaying left and right, trying to stand straight but couldn't.
Her eyes slowly closed down on her as she fell to the floor. She forced herself to open her eyes, not wanting to give in to the poison. She saw the man's feet gradually closing in on her. Then, she fell unconscious.
